I've invested in foreign markets through property. Getting in early in an emerging economy like India or China and investing off-plan with a small deposit down can be very lucrative. I would suggest partnering with an agent and looking for 1-2 bedroom apartments that are at early stages of development. Look in areas of rapid growth based on local demand (which is much more stable than foreign demand) for example established SEZ' or IT parks with planning permission to expand. Look at second tier cities which in India would include Pune and Chennai.
