How to keep calm when taking a test
51TEST TAKING IS LIKE EATING AN ELEPHANT
I sure know how you feel when it comes to taking tests. I've taken my share that's for sure. I hope these suggestions help. Feel free to let me know if they help.
minute. Get to where you know the information inside and out. Memorizing material is hard enough, and waiting until the last minute compounds the stress. First, read read and read the material over and over. In other words plan to study. Don't wait until the lastast minute is tough especially if it's information that doesn't come naturally. In my case music theory is one of these tough subjects.
Next, once you've studied and feel comfortable then approach that test with confidence. Like eating an elephant which I think might be a bit tough or if you're a vegan, it might be more like eating an entire bean field. Be as it may, eat the test one bite at a time. Typically if you go with your first gut reaction on an answer that throws you, you're better off. However, it doesn't hurt to read over the test when your finished to make certain that you're answers are correct.
On an essay test, always check spelling, grammar and punctuation. Always use complete sentences unless otherwise instructed. We had a professor in college who allowed us to write the essay in the form of an outline. Another gave us a little booklet we had to use. Either way, make sure the essay puts the English language at it's highest standards.
Taking a test isn't fun, but with adequate preparation, a person can accomplish the task with little anxiety. Focus on the task at hand rather than the anxiety. Forget about the person next to you or the noise in the hall. Tune it out. Become a test tak'n machine and pass with flying colors. I wish you much success!
