How to keep the holidays from losing its luster as you age

Christmas is found in the heart

The heart - this is where we find the true meaning of Christmas. When you think about the times in your life, excluding Christmas and gift-giving holidays, that make you truly happy, what do you think of?  I think of the times when I am with people I love, like family or friends, or when I am doing something for someone or something - getting nothing in return.  This all centers around the heart.

Creativity is also an essential part to not allowing Christmas to 'lose its luster'. Every year, try to think about a new way to celebrate. It's okay to keep your traditions, but do something different each year. Whether it be getting active in a new charity/program/organization where you can help people or doing an activity like caroling, baking cookies, creating wreaths, traveling to a fun destination with loved ones, etc.

Pairing both 'heart' and creativity at every Christmas will lure excitement and joy each time the season comes back around.  The most important thing is to not get lured in by consumerism and buying gifts and focus on family, friends and sharing - the true meaning of Christmas.

What a beautiful family! Maybe you're right... trying new things at Christmas can make it more enjoyable. My family does the same things every year, and while I love that, it couldn't hurt to add different activities in the mix. Thanks for answering my request!

Thank you. I adore the holidays, especially Christmas. Writing about celebrations like these is simply fun. I hope you do take my advice. I would hate for someone to get bored with Christmas.
