How to keep yourself beautiful all the time

The most beautiful women know how to embrace simple, timeless, style
Despite whether we like them or not, we can't help but gawk in awe and admiration of the most beautiful women's seemingly timeless beauty.
By most beautiful women I mean those that go beyond fad-beautiful, those that not only stand the test of time, but those whom just about allcan agree are beautiful. Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Audrey Tautau, Maria Callas, Lauren Bacall to name a few.
It is their style we seek, over and over again, in fashion, makeup, attitude. We desire to be like them. When we achieve a slight resemblance, we are elated, confident, proud.
It is not their fame we are after, though who wouln't want a bit of it. I certainly wouldn't turn my back on a pleasant monetary lifestyle or dream opportunities knocking at my door.
What we are after is that magical something that they possess, that we see and adore but cannot necessarily place a finger on.
Despite what they wear, or don't wear, they are beautiful.
No matter where they are, they are beautiful.
And, it seems, the simpler they are, the more beautiful they are.
Why is this?
Certainly it's because their features are beautiful? Because they don't have to work hard or lift a finger? Because they are waited on hand and foot?
No. No. No.
And the fact of the matter is, if we knew how, if we could place our finger on that something, each and every one of us could be beautiful too. Always. Ready 24/7. We could keep ourselves beautiful all the time.
Yes, you heard me right.
All it takes is remembering a few simple rules, or pleasures, as I like to call them, and you'll never have to worry. You will possess what all these women have and relish in it. That certain je ne sais quoi found in the most beautiful women of the world.
"I'm in! What do I have to do!" you shout. I'm here to tell you.
Embracing the natural you
The first thing you have to do is realize that you are you, that no one else in this world is like you, and that this is a wonderful thing. It takes all shapes and sizes, and all looks, ethnicity, and personalities, to make this beautiful world, and you are one of those people.
Take a good look at yourself without any makeup, without dressing up for a special night out. Look at the natural you, with no embelishments. Smile at yourself. Brush your teeth. Brush your hair. What do you see? Spend a good ten minutes or so on this. Feel out what you really think of yourself. If there was no one else in this world? In other words, don't think of what you think someone else thinks of you.
Your answers will vary based on attitude and self perception. Do keep it positive. You're worth all your positive thoughts.
Pick out all the possitive things you notice. Throw away all the negative things you THINK you notice. This is your starting point.
Relish the Bare essentials
Bare essentials are extremely important and worth the investment. In fact, you should be spending more (time-wise) on bare essentials than on the layers that cover you. What do I mean by bare essentials? I mean your general hygienic routine and how you go about it (not the fact that you do it; we all do it.)
I mean taking care of the bare you. Relishing it. Relaxing in it. Smile while you're doing it. Sing in the shower. I mean giving yourself the time of day because you're worth it. Every second of it.
Freshness is a priority. So pamper yourself. Take some YOU TIME and take care of you and the products you use. That's right. You time. This is the perfect time to relax and take care of you. Spend 20 minutes a day focusing on just you. You don't need a spa to enjoy its many pleasures.
Look at her smile. She's so beautiful!
You communicate via your mouth everyday. So by all means take care of it. This will speak wonders about your beauty.
- Replace your toothbrush so it does it's job and does it well.Pamper yourself with a new toothbrush every month. Go ahead. It's okay. You're already at the grocery or drugstore anyhow, so it's not like you're going out of your way. And because you're replacing your toothbrush as you should be, you can go with a cheaper brush. It will work just as well. Not to mention, people will notice the difference. And chances are you will be smiling more.
- Use your toothbrush. There is no point in having one if you don't use it. And use it properly. Spend time with it. Build a relationship with it. Build a strong friendship between your toothbrush and your mouth. Take care of each tooth, your gums, and your tongue. Odd as it seems to many, you should be spending a minimum of five minutes at each brushing. That's right. And believe me, it's well worth it.
Little known fact. Brushing your teeth properly helps tone your arms. Hm mm. Yet another good incentive. Multi-tasking at its finest.
Bare minimum
Use the bare minimum when it comes to makeup and hair products. Your skin and hair will thank you. Both will get a good chance to breathe. We are all well aware that breathing is important for life. Well, consider this: Your hair and skin are live parts of you, they thus need to breathe just as much as you do. If anything, you may want to use a good spf moisturizer for you skin, to replenish and protect it, like Artistry Essencials. Putting makeup on top of that defeats the purpose. Despite the claims.
All it takes is a little bit of eyeliner, if you'd like, and you're good to go.
Your acne, if this is an issue for you, as it is for me, cannot heal if it is smothered in makeup. (Again, despite the claims.) Nor can it heal if it sits unprotected. So use a treatment and let that treatment work. Many do the job overnight, allowing your acne to disolve while you get your beauty rest. My favorite here is clear.now three step skin care system. (Works wonders, works fast.)
Chose your products wisely and do what you're suppose to with them.
You may think you look like a star in your many layers of makup and clothes and perfumes, but go back and take a look at the photos at the beginning of this hub. Nothing fancy there. Yet those are perhaps the most beautiful photos of those ladies.

The woman makes the clothes.
I mentioned before that "you should be spending more on the bare essentials than on the layers that cover you". Well this is true not just monetarily, but time-wise as well. This is the part of your always beautiful routine that should take the least thought and the least out of you. This is the part that you should require the least amount of thought. It's the dress 'n' go part.
Your clothes don't need to be fancy. Slide on a simple dress. Or a shirt and some pants or a skirt. A sweater. A simple scarf. Your favorite little pair of earrings. All take a moment to put on.
You will, of course, need to do some prep work so that you never have to worry about wasting your time when you could be looking beautiful. Here are some tips:
- If it doesn't fit you, take it out of your closet. Pronto! The only things that should be hanging there in front of you to chose from should be things that fit, not maybes or "some day"s.
- Don't worry if you don't have much to chose from. Actually less is more in this situation. You probably only need five outfits for everyday use and two for special occasion. It is overkill to wear something completely different every day of the month. (Not to mention more laundry to be done, probably by you. Are you really wanting to do more laundry than you have to?)
- Chose quality over quantity wherever you can. You'll spend less time figuring out what to wear and more time looking beautiful in what you're wearing. Ask yourself, is this simple enough? Is this flattering enough? Does this REALLY fit or do I wish it did or does it sort of fit. Go shopping with a friend whose opinion you trust. If they're a true friend, they'll let you know whether you look hot or not.
- Watch your colors! If it doesn't suit you, it does nothing. Let it wait for someone else. You've got plenty of colors to chose from. Find the ones that work best on you and they'll work best for you.
- Mix and matches are best, and so are simple dresses.
- If you have a top you love, but nothing to go with it, don't hang it in your closet. It's the same as if you had something there that didn't fit you, causing unnecessary anxiety and wasted thoughts. Instead, keep it in a pretty bag by the door that you can grab on your way out, in case the moment arises that you might be doing a bit of shopping. Most places will let you take your own stuff in with you to find a match. (Especially in this economy, you're more likely to find better leniency, even in snooty boutiques.)
Important: Comfort and beauty go hand in hand. You may be surprise to find that something that looks great on you can also be comfortable. In fact, if your outfit does not offer you both, it's time to donate it. Comfort is extremely important. If you're comfortable, you'll be more relaxed. If you're more relaxed, your beautiful natural self will shine. But that comfort needs to be balanced with beautiful style. Out of the billions and billions of pieces of clothes out there in this world, why should you settle for anything less? Think about it. They all want you to wear them, to make them look fabulous... So which will you chose? Remember those dream opportunities I wouldn't mind? Voila. Here's one. Just for you.
Â
The Inner You
This is where YOU happens. You are now ready to show the world you feel beautiful, and they'll follow along. What's inside comes out easier than you think. Unfortunately, that inner you cannot come out if you're obsessed with covering it up.
Let your natural beauty show and your love for yourself will show. You'll proclaim a look of confidence, despite what you may be feeling at the moment.
Once you've done this, you'll find that you have a lot more time to do the things that matter. You'll notice things you haven't noticed in a very long time. You'll get involved in things you always wanted to do but "never had the time".
Appreciate all that nature gave you. Yes your bumps, your curves, your lines, your smile, your "breath taking" skin and hair. Keep it simple and you're ready to face the world, always. You'll always be ready, you'll always be beautiful.
Even Marilyn Monroe looks better at her most natural. Take a look. You decide.
Children Always Seem to Know
Children always seem to know what teenagers and adults seem to forget.
- There is more to life than having to worry about your looks.
- Playing with a box and a wrapping paper tube, is funner than wearing itchy tights.
- Hair dryers are hot.
- Making faces in the mirror is fun and makes you feel good inside.
- New toothbrushes are way cool.
- The lady with the happy eyes that smiles and winks is pretty.

Hi Elena. Thanks. It was my first miscelanius request I grabbed from the request section. I dind't realize that requests came with pre made taggs and what not. I'm afraid I had something a tiny bit different in mind and much as I tried, I had to take off a couple of them; so I hope I answered, at least to some extent, what Sailini was after.
I did enjoy Chris A's hub. Thanks for posting it for me so I could check it out.
That was funny how we were reading eachother's hubs at the same time. I seem to be doing that lately. I bet it happens with people often. A good feeling, isn't it?
Hi Freida: Just a quick note before I start with the real comment...you don't have to use those tags that are already there. That's just to help IF YOU WANT THEM. Always feel free to get rid of them and answer the request in whatever way you want to. That's the point. Now...
Great job. Mostly it's the inner beauty that counts. All that pampering stuff you mention helps you to feel better; better about yourself, better about others, better, better, better. That is of course, what you have said, but my point is that it applies to men as well as to women. And your so right about the mouth. And the smile (and really feel it.) When your mouth smiles, your eyes smile, your face smiles, your attitude smiles. Even just forcing yourself to smile in the mirror for a minute can change your bad mood into a good mood (this is proven). Smile and everything else follows. And you've given great instruction as to how to easily achieve this. You have performed a valuable service in a very entertaining way (I love the way you write!)
P.S. Where did you find that picture of Bogart and Bacall? I have looked at literally thousands of photographs of Bogart (I have a hub that explains why) and I have never seen that one before. I as impressed by that as I am by this fine piece. Excellent work!
Hey Christoph. Ah, thanks for telling me. I feel so much better now. I was literally sweating over this. Not profusely, but still sweating.
You're right, it does apply to men as well as women. Should I have put that in there too, do you think?.
Thanks so much for liking my writing. Coming from someone with such a groupie/cult following (to steal the words of Anna Marie's blog on this subject), it means a lot to me.
In answer to how I found that most awesome photo of Bogart and Bacall, I googled Lauren Bacall photos and it was on the eighth or ninth page of image results for Lauren Bacall. It takes you to a site I did a link for just above comments for everyone. That reminds me that I have to go in and read your Bogart piece. Was going to yesterday, but wanted to get this out first and never had the time. Will do that now!
AW, you don't need to - thats why I didn't link it. And you're welcome. And no, don't change anything. It was just an observation.
See I would have commented too but once CR has been here, there is nothing left to say.
Isn't that so true. He does have a way with words. But did you know he really steals them from his cult members? It's true. Anna Marie told me that when she was stalking him outside his window in that photo she posted on her hub, she found out all about it. She was sworn to secrecy. But I wasn't.
I object!
I'm glad you know about that cult, I try to warn as many as possible. He tried to hypnotize me a few times and it might be working, but I am still slightly resistant.
CR!
Frieda thank you for a lovely hub. I was expecting a Cosmo approach to beauty and I like Frieda Babbley's approach soooo much better. Our world can be so superficial; your hub is such a contrast to that. I think I'll go brush my teeth now and end my day with a smile.
Thank you so much, Patricia! I really appreciate your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed.
Show the world those pearly whites!
wow, lovely hub :) I also answered this request, although yours seem more interesting to me. Happy hubbing!
Hi Rida. I beg to differ. I really love your hub on this subject and linked to it. Lovely job. You give some very good tips on feet and hands. Put in a link to it here and hope all take a visit. Thanks for commenting.
What a wonderful hub!
I agree, comfort and confidence are crucial for looking good, as are the body bascis - teeth, skin, etc.
The only exception I'd mention to your chuck-it-if-it-doesn't fit exception is when you are pregnant. You have a good chance of losing the tummy in a few months (-:
You bring up a good subject, LondonGirl. But even then, if it doesn't fit you, don't have it in your closet, not in the front anyway. Instead, keep a separate spot for stuff that you'll need to wear again or soon but because your body's changing you can't wear now. When you're pregnant especially, you don't have the time to dicker around with things that don't fit. It only makes things more frustrating.
I completely agree with that - stash it out of the way, then you won't get depressed as often at what used to be your waist (-:
wonderful hub
Hi Frieda, congratulations! This hub made it into the hubnuggets list for this week. Check this link out: http://hubpages.com/hub/hubnuggets-feb27-2009 :-) I think it is every girl's dream to be beautiful all the time. LOL Now we know how. Thanks for putting up this hub!
Thanks ripplemaker! I know! Can you believe it? I just found out before dinner. Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And by the looks of your avatar, I think you knew these tricks all along.
Glad to be a part of hubpages with you.
Actually Frieda, I read this hub a few days ago....obviously, I forgot to leave a comment.
You wrote this so well, bravo! I think we've gotten so caught up on creams and artificial beauty, that we've forgotten about the basics. I'm so glad that you deal with that here. It really is the support of how we look and feel. Beauty really does come from the inside out.
Kudos and a big thank you for the reminder of what's truly beautiful. Attitude has so much to do with it. And little things/habits make a big difference. Thanks!
Thanks Shirley. And that's okay. You were probably in a rush to go out and buy a new toothbrush after reading this, or perhaps you caught a fabulous glimpse of yourself in the mirror? Thanks so much!
Oh, and LondonGirl. I know exactly what you mean five times over. Pregnancy has it's very odd body stages, doesn't it?
Wow look at all of the beautiful womans here! ... Wait! Toad get out from behind that couch! what is it with you and couches?
I didn't see anything about beautiful men. ???
One true comment from me: I think pregnat women are stunning and beautiful. That is as serious as I will be for tonight. sorry about that.
Thanks pest. Very nice of you, and yes, they are totally stunning and beautiful, I agree. Thanks for being serious on that one. As for where all the beautiful men are? Well, I left that up to you... http://hubpages.com/hub/Pests-Photo-Albulm-and-Pet . I believe you must be a great toothbrusher by the looks of it. =).
Thank YOU Mighty Mom. And you're welcome.
That is an awesome link that you have posted there. Thanks for that!
@pest If you need a tissue, I'm all out. I gave the menthol puffs to Toad as he was having "allergy" problems earlier today.
I saw Toads allergic reaction...his mood swings are out of control these days.
Your approach to the subject is refreshing! This is so enjoyable to read.
By the way- your avatar is a scream! Love it.
(applause) well done.
Hi tomato! Thanks so much for the comment. Glad you stopped by and very happy you enjoyed the read.
Children always DO seem to know! I loved your tips on clothing. I need to go clean out my closet!
Don't they though? Thanks for commenting on that. It was actually my favorite part.
Perfect time to clean out you're closet. Come back and let us know how you feel. Or write a hub about it, OO that would be an awesome read. Let me know if you do!
completely agree with that - stash it out of the way

Good tips, Frieda! I wrote a hub on keeping young when I first joined Hubpages, and I stressed the importance of drinking water. Since I have my own bathroom, I keep a bottle of water in the bathroom, and also in my office, so I sip water all day. In addition, I love the bare minerals makeup we have nowadays; healthy for the skin.
Hi
Liz here--newcomer. I think one of the most vital ingredients here is DON'T COMPARE YOUR BEAUTY TO ANYONE ELSE'S. Yes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," but beauty is truly skin deep and in one's mind. I know I am beautiful, not just from looking at the mirror and getting looks from a lot of admirers, but, by being a good person, admitting there are numerous others who are equally or more beautiful than me, feeling beautiful, and taking steps to ensure a healthy glow. Above all, physical beauty is unique to one's own.
Hi VioletSun. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. Water is super super super super super important. Absolutely. Thanks for letting us know about your hub. I'll go take a look and link it.
And hi Liz. Welcome to HubPages. You make a good point about admitting that there are numerous others who are beautiful. Seing and appreciating others' beauty in turn makes us beautiful. Thanks for your comment.
I agree to everything that you had to say in this hub. beauty is where we find it and that's basically everywhere and in everyone. thanks for sharing :D
Absolutely, Chris, and you're welcome. Thanks for stopping by and giving me a read!
Hi Frieda, your husband here. I still don't understand the world’s fixation with women looking like Twiggy. I wish more people would age gracefully and accept it. I have always found you beautiful, from the time when you were a smokin’ hot 21 year old who wore a size 6, to your pregnancy when you got so large that you could not fit in an arm chair, to now with that oh so sexy shock of white hair streaking back from your forehead. I am sure that if I am fortunate enough to live that long, I will find you beautiful as an old woman http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k223/RubyHorror/ Beauty is radiated from within. Feel beautiful, and it will show through. And you are a beautiful woman, through and through.
;)
Came back to read the comments, and aaaaw, your husband's comments touched my heart. Just tonight, I said to my mate, when we get to be in our 90's (if we live that long), we will both still skip over speed bumps in the park as we do nowadays. Love, friendhsip and humor keeps one glowing from the inside out.
Isn't that the sweetest thing ever!!! AWWWWWWW!
Well, I have to say, ladies, I was a little embarrassed, but yes, it was sweet.
Excellent point about humor VioletSun. Well, actually all three of those; Love, friendship, and humor; definitely do keep one glowing from inside out. And even when you can't seem to find the love or the friendship, the humor can keep you glowing just fine.
Thanks for coming back to check the comments, Elena and VioletSun. Way cool of you. (And, I suppose, aren't you glad you did).
Oh, Freidaaaaa! Are you home? Have you checked you email lately?? You should. :) Congrats, my dear!!
Sorry Shirley, I found out right before I had to go pick up the kids.
GO MEE! GO MEE! GO MEE! GO MEE! I'M THE BOMB! GO MEE! GO MEE!
I would like to thank Tootsie Pops for teaching me that in order to find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, you have to first open one up and check to see if you've got the wrapper with the Indian shooting the star. I suppose "I" got the lucky wrapper! Yay!
Thanks to everyone who voted for me, who left their comments, who fanned me (that felt really good by the way, those hot sweats are excruciating sometimes), and to everyone who popped by and gave me a read. and or had a chuckle and moved on. Thanks.
Congrats,Frieda!
Beautiful hub! The total beauty! Accept yourself, feel comfortable, minimum addons,SMILE ! WOW!!!
Thank you Esther. Very kind of you to stop by. Glad you enjoyed my hub. And thanks for the congrats!
CONGRATS for the second place in the hubnuggets, you!
Thanks Elena. Pretty cool, huh?
Way cool, Frieda, you cracking hubber, you!
Nice Hub!
Thanks jj. Hope you enjoyed.
Elena, you mean "cracking up" hubber, don't you? As in crackers, (not the food)? LOL
NO -- I actually forgot "FIRE" in front of "cracking" LAUGH (but yeah, as in cracking up!)
That's what happens for multitasking, and I'm not even going to mention what else I was doing while I typed the comment! Actually, I won't mention the three other things that I was doing at the same time!! Ay ay ay, I have to shake my head!!
Okay, you can't say you won't mention because then I'll have to know what you won't mention. You must now this being a writer yourself. It's excruciating to say the least. So do tell! Were you picking your nose? Doing yoga? Text messaging and hubbing at the same time? (that could have some interesting results).
I'll admit, saying 'I won't mention' is devilish, to say the least :-) And, OK, I'll deliver --- but don't want to make a publich disclosure, after all I've a public image to perserve! Laugh So I'll email you, all right?
And now you can say that I'm easy, very easy, because I didn't even make you as twice! :-*
Great hub frieda. it's nice to read some sensible beauty advice instead of a list of chemicals that we need to slap on, before signing up for surgery, eyebrow tatoos, and who knows what else! Also, I listened to the Louis Hay clip. She has a very hypnotic voice. Completely mesmerising!
Sounds good Elena. My lips will be sealed. I would never tarnish your reputation. And I wouldn't call you easy, but then I've never tried anything. =D
I AM SOOOO GLAD YOU WATCHED THAT VIDEO AND COMMENTED ON IT, AMANDA! Thank you so much for that. It was a fluke that I ran across it. You can't imagine how difficult it was to find anything relative to this topic in video. I actually found it after I published this hub and stuck it in right away. Yes, her voice is so comforting and relaxing. And she sooo speaks the truth. She's got more videos too and I encourage everyone to check them out. Thanks Amanda for stopping by and reading and for a great comment.
WATCH THE VIDEO PEOPLE!
Let's not get down that road, Frieda, let's just NOT!! :D Gotta get going, you know where I'm headed (or will know when you get my mail!) Laugh
Frieda, excellent advice. I loved the hub, loved, loved, loved it! I 100% agree with you. In fact, reading it is a reminder that I need to go brush my teeth, and maybe make a little time for a bubble bath tonight. Thanks! I'm a fan, and fellow newbie. Best of luck to you.
Hi MotherHubber. (Love the name by the way! And I too love clean spotless carpets; and I love your topics and can't wait to give your hubs a read.)
A bubble bath sounds splindid (and you're right, after you brush your teeth, always feels better, doesn't it). And don't forget to smile at that beautiful you. Thank you so very much for stopping by!
Wonderful Hub! Sometimes we get so used to caring for others that we forget to take some extra time for outselves. Sorry i ddidn't ss this before now, but will make up for it be comaing back to re-read.
Thanks for linking my purseless hub. Part of taking care of yourself is giving up the non-essentials.
Oh you're most welcome Rochelle. And not a problem at all. There are so many wonderful hubs to read and so very little time! I linked to your purseless hub the second I got done commenting on it. I love that piece!
I love what you advocate. I've always thought that the more unique and confident a girl is, the more beautiful I find her. That's awesome that you said that a woman should find out what makes her her, what makes her unique, and then walk confidently in it. That's really good advice. Thanks for the great hub!
Hi Benji! Thanks for that awesome comment. Yes and absolutely. I hope everyone realizes this and comes away with that message after reading this! Glad you stopped by.
Great hub, Frieda. But for me, it's about FINDING the time. I have to be at work so early, and when I get back, I hit the door running until I have to go back later in the afternoon. Then dinner, baths, stories, etc. No different than any other mom, but I just can't find that extra few minutes. Maybe in a few years. Meanwhile, I'm still pretty happy!
Great post, Frieda! Sometimes, people just don't know how beautiful they are and they try hard to fit in other people's definition of beauty.
Now to buy myself a new toothbrush.
Kristine
Hi Proud Mom. Good to see you! With four kids, two dogs, two cats, a husband, a job, being in charge of this that and the other, volunteering, driving, watching other people's kids.... Our job is endless, isn't it?
Thanks jadedsecret. I'm so glad you stopped by and enjoyed. And yea, there's really no point in trying to fit into someone elses definition of beauty. There are too many definitions anyway.
And the great thing is, it doesn't take any time at all to be yourself and appreciate yourself, to brush your teeth and give yourself a smile, grab that outfit, put it on and go.
I think I'm going to look for a pink toothbrush next. Have fun brushing!
Yes. but when it comes down to it, I love every minute of it!!
The black and white photos at the top are just stunning! Classic True Beauties!
And brushing my teeth is a given. I'll give up showering to brush my teeth if I have to......
Did I mention that I really enjoyed this hub?
Me too, Proud Mom. People always ask me, how do you do it? I never really have an answer because it always takes me by surprise. I just go with the flow. In hindsight I love every minute of it. But I have to be honest and say I do get frustrated and wonder why me, what was I thinking. LOL.
I love those photos. In fact one reason why I chose them was because they were black and white. Somehow or other black and white photos offer something that color photography can't. A view into something a little deeper sometimes.
Thanks for enjoying my hub Proud Mom. I have to say, I always enjoy yours.
Congratulations on your HubNugget win! I love the actressess you posted. I am inspired to write a Hub on "Bringing Audrey Hepburn Back". Style, grace, and hair.
Hi Andromeda10. Thanks, and thanks for reading this fine nugget of a hub =)
Audrey Hepburn is such an inspiration, in so many ways. Her life achievements and personal contributions are so vast. And she does it all with style, grace, and fab hair, all always so "simply" beautiful.
Hey, I missed this, your win that is! Congratulations, you earned it! :)
Thanks VioletSun! It was pretty exciting. My Picture Perfect Postcards is up this week. Lots more voters this time and VERY close. Closer than last week. I hope everyone will be voting who hasn't already. There's instructions on my "Picture Perfect Postcards - How to Make Your Own" hub for anyone interested.
Hi Frieda, This Hub was recommended to us by a fellow Hubber who had checked out our website - (I won't spam the reference here) - isn't it great how Hubbers can link up and support each other.
So glad this Hub was recommended - great advice, and applicable to women living in the real world (as opposed to young, thin, rich ones.)
Thanks
How funny. Well, I'm glad you guys stopped by. Thanks for commenting, and do tell fellow hubber thank you. Hope you enjoyed.
Frieda a huge thumbs up from me, so much truth here for women to see. It's all so simple we just make it so complicated.xox
Blondepoet, thanks! Yes and absolutely! You have just summed up this whole piece. You truly get it. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone did. Life would be so much sweeter.
Lovely hub. Have you ever wondered why all the most elegant women/movie stars are from the 1950's? Did they have different standards to now?
You know what? I am so glad you brought that up! I was thinking the very same thing. I was looking for photos and I suppose I could have put Angelina Jolie in there and maybe a couple of others, but I couldn't put my finger on why the calmness comes through on the older actresses. I wondered if it was the black and white photography. I wondered if it was the photographers. I wondered if it was the way of life, what they represented. I'm still confused on that whole thing. I'd love to hear ideas on that, I really do. May be a good hub idea if someone thinks they've got some answers. What do you think?
Good information here. Especially the beauty within, it so effects the outer image - I know that from experience!
Hi Jewels, good to see you. Love the new avatar. You're possitively right. The inner so effect the outer image. I'm glad you know this. I must say, it shows. =)
You've recently added the photo at the top, haven't you?
I changed it around a bit. I put that in right after I won I think. So it's been there a short while.
I should come back by more often. Your picture belongs up there with the rest of them!
So does yours lady! It's how I'm feeling that makes it a good picture. That and the statue I'm holding, makes me look like I won an award lol!
How in the heck do I overlook this hub, it is absolutely wonderful!!! I also love your beautiful pic. I thought after first that was a champagne glass and then I looked again and I felt silly. :)
Thanks AE, glad you liked. I say that to myself as I scroll through people's hubs all the time. Unfortunately there's never enough time to get to them all. Champagne, it does look like it, lol. You're right. I bet lots of people thought so, come to think of it. Because of my hands. That was taken on my birthday two years ago, almost to the day!
A huge thumbs up from my side on this hub. love the fact that life can be made a lot simpler for all those who are craving for a size zero when they can find inner beauty which is very much achievable. Love the way you write and man do you have a smile that will rock many hearts..
thanx for sharing and you look a charm in the snap...
Hi charanjeet. Thanks so much! I'm glad this article gets people to thinking. A comfort with one's self and a smile makes a world of difference in the beauty department. Glad you stopped in for a read. =D
Helpful subject
nice hub for girls
Thanks apeksha. Glad you like.
Frieda, lovely hub, as usual. Such a warm hearted look at beauty, a change from the cold ideals expressed in so many magazines.
Thank you for saying so Dolores, I really appreciate that. Magazines do get me very disgusted. I keep thinking, "What about me, I'm not the makeup, I'm not the perfume..." But you know, it's business. Glad you came by. Thanks. :)
I keep myself beautiful by thinking beautiful thoughts.
What a wonderful thing to do Tom. I'm totally serious, so I hope you are too! It really works. It really does.
Actually it was a joke, but I agree, it's totally true. Thinking beautiful thoughts makes a person beautiful, no question.
You're brilliant. Deep down, you realize this. I surprise myself with my brilliance all the time too. =D
staying natural and simple is the way to go! great post!
Absolutely! Thank avinicole. And thanks for the read. Have a beautiful, happy, full of smiles day.
yes keep natural is the balance to keep the beauty inside and about merilyn monroe,so pity she no longer natural at her last days her breath so naive and pitty such a beauty creature died by drugs,so irony from the "stupid beauty"I love say she is like that
Hi murilion. You're so right. If only she realized how beautiful her natural self was. How envious everyone would have really been of her. How much happier she could have been. She could have been a wonderful role model. Thank you, Murilion for that perfect comment.
Interesting hub Frieda. I have always loved the gracefulness of Audrey Hepburn.
Your inner beauty really is what truly makes your outer beauty glow.
Hi DeBorrah! So true on both counts. I'm glad to see you smiling! May I just say you look spendid today!
Frieda - how wonderfully refreshing ... no pun and all that. I'm a bit of a bare naked type. I just don't get how wimmin can spend so much time on mussing with themselves. I have some of the most attractive girlfriends - and they hide behind make-up and weird hair products ... And I love your line "the woman makes the clothes" - I jolly well hope so because I'm a terrible shopper :)
Mind you Frieda - I'm big on looking after my teeth and skin. That's what I spend money on. Good dentistry etc and face, hand and body creams that suit my skin type. Same with my hair. Usually I just wash it and ... go. I feel better about myself now! I've spent my life being told to 'make more' of myself with external beautification (wow ... maybe I'm not so great as God made me!) but I prefer - me!
Thanks for this. I'm glad I read it, even so long after it was published!
I am very glad to hear this about you frogdropping. Your comfort in your natural self shows in your humor and writings. Flaws are only flaws if you believe they are. Besides which, nature is beautiful naturally. Sure we can all have a play at different looks, just as we have plays with our behavior and imaginations. But taking care of what we are given to work with , our teeth, our skin, our hair, our nails. When we love ourselves, that is the ultimate beauty and that is what others are envious of. That is what everyone wants. It's the only way to be beautiful 24/7.
I prefer "you" too. Thanks for popping in for a read. I'm headed your way to watch the scrabble song. =D
I haven't made it through all of the comments yet, but I love this hub! And you've inspired me to clean out my closet. Comfort is soooo important! And I know I have crap staring me in the face everytime I go in there - hiding the stuff that I really like!
thanks - great hug and I really enjoyed the videos!
Thanks dineane for bringing this back to hubtivity-- I liked it before, I still like it, and you hlped me fulfill the promise to come back.
It is worth rereading. . . a lot.
Thanks dineane. Go for it. I've got to go through my stuff again too now that it's going to be getting so excruciatingly hot over here. Pull out your favorite comfies, if they make you smile, put em right in the middle of everything!
Thanks for coming back Rochelle, (my purposefully purseless and proud hubber friend). =D
=] thank you Frieda. I found this at just the right time. -hugs-
Good morning, AIDY. Oh, perfect! Thanks for giving this one a read. =D
I love how much material you covered! Marilyn was so lovely and what a fun video!
Thanks kartika. This is one of my first and most loved hubs. I come back to watch the vids and admire the natural look of my timeless favorites. Glad you enjoyed this.
I loved this hub, Frieda. I feel if you love who you are, inside and out....your beauty will shine. Thank you so much for such a great hub. Of course, what do you expect...coming from a beautiful lady as yourself. :)
Thanks Maggie. You're so right "if you love who you are, inside and out...your beauty will shine" and THAT is true beauty. It'll be hard for others not to notice just how beautiful you are.
Thanks for the reminder that we are all the Goddess all that is. And for those of us who have more years than we like to discuss, just know that we do get better with age. Loved the post.
Could not have said it better than you did kim. So true that "we are all the Goddess all that is." So glad you loved the post. Thanks so much for the read and the great comment.
very nice
I love everything you write, including this hub. True, the toothbrush and personal hygiene is a must. Inner beauty is the real beauty. I have seen what I thought were beautiful women until i see their personality and if it is an ugly personality, somehow it makes their physical appearance very ugly to me and vice versa with a so called not so pretty woman, if she has a beautiful personality somehow she looks so beautiful physically. And of children. No wonder all children are beautiful. They are just honest, natural beings. Great hub. Freida, you are a true beauty, inside and out.
Hi there Lisa. Thanks! I believe you're right about real beauty. I think there's a lot to be said about beauty being in the eye of the beholder; I think it says a lot about the beholder. Have a beautiful day and smile when you think of you. =]

Hi Frieda! Funny that, I was reading your hub while you where reading mine! :-)
I'm with you that beauty goes beyond, sometimes even against, fads! I recommend this hub from Cris A, I think you may enjoy it: http://hubpages.com/hub/helens-of-troy-the-10-most
Such good advice in this article, bare essentials, the beauty of a smile, embracing and accepting ourselves, the way we are... Kudos to you!
