  • How Microsoft stacks up against Google's latest search and mobile waresZDNet19 hours ago

Hoping (unsuccessfully so) to head off the glowing press Google was bound to get this week for its "future of search" preview, Microsoft showed off some of its latest enhancements to Bing last week. But on December 7 -- the day of Google debuted its latest advances -- the Softies had nothing to say about how its own offerings stacked up against Google's new visual- and real-time search prototypes.

Adoption is a serious matter. Making the decision to adopt a child can be daunting and requires serious commitment. There are a lot of issues that you need to deal with raising somebody else’s child. Some people are drawn in to adoption but have not thought of whether they are really ready for this responsibility. Here are some things that you can do that will show you if you are ready to adopt a child:

  • First of all write down the reasons why you want to adopt a child. Then examine these reasons. These reasons must show a strong desire to become a parent. If you do not have a strong desire to parent a child then you are not yet ready.
  • Next you should also think of biological connections and its importance to you. Your adopted child will not share your genes and may not look like you at all. Will that matter? Your adopted child can have a different level of thinking and interest. Will that affect the way you care? If you think that you can love a child that is entirely different from you then you are ready to adopt a child.
  • You should also review your financial situation. This is something most people miss. You would have to pay a large adoption fee in order to adopt a child unless you are adopting out of foster care. Aside from adoption fees, having a child means added financial responsibility. Do you think you have the money to educate, clothe and feed a child? If you do then you can be ready to adopt.
  • Your extended family’s reactions to adoption are also important for your adopted child will have them as relatives as well. There are some people who are not supportive of adoption and may treat your adopted child poorly. You have to be ready to protect the child from this type of rejections. If you are not ready to deal with this kind of negativity then you should act on it first before adopting a child.
  • You have to check if you have a secured marriage. The whole process of adoption can be grueling and stressful to a couple. An adopted child has already experienced a loss with his biological family and you should make sure that he will not have to undergo that loss again in your present family. If you think your marriage is still unstable then hinder the adoption and work on your relationship first.
