Is it me or is my female cat getting fatter. ahhhhh..... shes pregnant what am i going to do know. Read this and i will tell you all about it. First of all yor cat will start getting bigger this means that she could be 5 weeks pregnant or more. Another sure sighn that your cat is pregnant is that her nipples will change in colour normally dark pink. As she progresses throught her pregnancy she will start getting more loving and want more attention. A normal feline pregnancy consists of 9 weeks or to cut it short 59-60 days they shouldnt go over this or its vet's here we come. On the last week of feline pregnancy your cat should start nesting a sure sighn that the labour is immenent also you may see her looking for a hiding place.... its best to just let her find a place she is comfatable with and at this stage its best keeping her indoors because a litter of kittens wouldnt survive outside. When labour is very close she will start to clean her back end alot and start making crying noises. You can definatly tell if your cat is in labour because of the contractions she has they look like her belly has gone really hard. The female cat will normally clean her kittens herself and eat the placenta this is normal. And there you have it a brand new litter. Good luck finding new homes in 8 weeks time.

I scheduled an appointment to have my cat spayed.  Unfortunately, by the time the appointment rolled around, I was convinced she was already pregnant.  I voiced my concern to the vet and they told me they'd check it out and call me.  If she wasn't they'd go ahead and spay her.

I got a call about an hour later, but I couldn't understand what they were saying because they were laughing too hard.  He finally handed the phone to someone else, who, although had to work to control their composure, was able to get out, "I'm sorry.  Your cat's most definitely not pregnant.  But we can't spay, either."  I was very concerned.  Imagining some horrible "female" cancer or disease and wondering why this would be so funny, I was mortified to hear, "Tinkerbell is a male."

I had to change vets.
