How to live a Happy Life?
70Sri Caitanya Saraswat Math founded by Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar maharaj
Llife is a roadmap of karmic events meant for our spiritual development
If you want to live a happy life, you must first examine the purpose of life. This has been the subject of many philosophers over the ages. In college, I studied Philosophy as my major. Later, after I had been practicing dentistry for some time, I became disenchanted with pursuing materialism as the meaning of life. I entered an ashram and studied bhakti yoga as taught by the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. It was a simple life of chanting and doing service the the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krsna. After listening and chanting for a few years, I heard about a great Guru in India, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Mahraj of Nabadwip and wrote to him.
By Krsna's arrangement, I was able to travel there and to be initiated by him a few years before he left his physical body. Later, I moved to North Miami and took up the challenge of opening a seva-ashram there. A few years passed and by some causeless mercy, my Gurudev's successor decided to come to North Miami with his entourage on his very first world Tour in 1992, even though there were just a handful of devotees there. I believe that was the happiest time of my life, we had a small altar and Deities and had a simple morning program called mangala-arotik everyday. That lasted for a while, but probably due to our naivete and inexperience in spiritual matters, we lost that property.
I had also moved into a different astrological period of my life, so possibly what I was supposed to experience and accomplish was already in the past. If you look at my chart, you will see that I have Mars exalted in the 10th house and I had been in a Mars period during that time (charitable activities at the expense of family ties).
I am now in a Rahu major period (1994-2012). During this period, as I have mentioned in other posts, one must search out and find one's evolutionary potential and fulfill it. So, what is happiness? "To thine own self be true." You see life is about becoming spiritually mature. Each period that we pass through has some meaning to our overall development spiritually. It is up to us to understand exactly what that is.
Gaura Purnima March 2008
The Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampraday continues
The present acarya, Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj, just completed his 24th World Tour and came back to celebrate the festival of Gaura Purnima when devotees congregate to observe the appearance day of the incarnation of krsna for this age of Kali yuga, Sri Caitanya mahaprabhu, who appeared to distribute the Holy Name of Krsna. He appeared in Nabadwip Dham, which is in West Bengal, India.

I'm sure you already know all about this.
Since you are aware of Mahabharat do you think the US soldiers who fight in the war in Iraq fighting for the cause of Dharma (Righteousness)? (As mentioned by Lord Krishna to Arjuna to fight)
that's a big question.Unfortunately, Islam as advocated by Mohammed is not a religion of peace, but a political ideology that compels its followers to dominate and destroy non-believers. Therefore, as a Vaishnava, I would not be allowed to even live in a Muslim country. It is obvious from the analysis of the later teachings of the Koran that Islam is an evil that is threatening World peace. Therefore, I believe it would be naive to "hope" that Christians, Jews, Hindus and Muslims could live in peace. Islam is an aberration that must be defeated. Therefore, in some ways, the soldiers who embark on that duty to defeat Al-Queda are, I believe, fulfilling their dharma. What do you think?
I beg to differ with your assessment of Islam. I do agree there are some bad elements in Islam who do engage in terrorist activities but to brand the whole religion as such is totally unjustified.
Yes I agree now Al Qaeda is involved even in Iraq but to begin with al qaeda wasn't present there. Based on false intelligence reports and single pointed agenda of the Bush administration to go into Iraq. There was no threat to USA from Iraq nor did Iraq attack US hence going there wasn't justified. What it has done is make US a marginal voice and lose the moral authority it had earlier in world affairs. If some one attacks us we have the right to defend or somebody seeks our protection we have the right to protect. US without a consensus or a world recognized body like UN went into Iraq costing the US residents with a big bill which has slumped the economy to the nadir.
It was foolish decision to begin with and bad result to end with (George Bush can be equated to Duryodhana who never listened to wise caution of Vidura and only listened to wicked plans of Shakuni)
I am a peaceful person. however, we have been attacked in the US by Islamic terrorists. Ex terrorists have testified and demonstrated that the Koran has to be understood from the later passages that completely "vacate" the earlier portions. the teachings of Mohammed and his actions are quite clear: to dominate the world and exterminate the infidels. I think we would be naive to think that there is another "peaceful" meaning to the Koran when it is right there in black and white. I am citing the advice of ex-terrorist Waleed Shoebat. As I explained to another inquirer, to dismiss the presence of evil in the world as an implausibility is a grave mistake. I didn't vote for George Bush, but it wasn't entirely the Iraq war that made the economy this way. The democrats introduced social legislation that made it easy for the lower middle class to obtain risky mortgages that were simply out of their reach, signed by Carter, implemented by Clinton and enforced by "community organizers" like Barack Hussein Obama and his Acorn students.
If you read another of my posts, http://hubpages.com/hub/Wall-St-Meltdown-Astrologi you will see that Pluto is now entering Capricorn. It has an elliptical orbit of about 245 years and the last time that it was in Capricorn was during the American Revolutionary War. Barack Obama has said that he doesn't agree with the U.S. constitution and that he plans to change our country into a socialistic country. He was sponsored through Harvard by a radical Islamic anti-white racist, Jew-hating, man Dr. Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Masoud. Doesn't that make you suspicious? Yes there may be peaceful Muslims, but the religion of Islam is not a peaceful religion, I beg to differ.
I am an Indian citizen and I have no say in the present elections(although I pay my taxes being a US resident). I feel the Iraq war drained the economy and we are at a point where the Iraq funding should stop (Since july Iraq made 80 Billion $ in profits). I need to look into that Dr.Khalid reference you mentioned to comment further. I am not saying Islam is a very peaceful religion but all I am saying is it is not totally violent religion as you have mentioned. I am talking to my neighbours (old couple who planned to retire by the end of next year but their life savings are gone and now they have to work for couple of years more it is so sad to hear). I don't have any pro or anti stand in democrat/republican party stands. All I care is that the elected leader be the right man for the right job. May the future be bright and beneficial to all (We need leaders like Yudhistir who with their wisdom bring peace & prosperity to those who are within and outside their areas)

Vrajavala. Before anything else, I want you to know that I did not want to offend you in any way, if I did please accept my deepest apologies. Because That was not my intention. Just because I just don’t comprehend what you say doesn’t mean that I don’t admire, respect and value your message. The first thing I do is look at people’s profile, to get a basic idea of who they are. Brother you are they type of person I seek in my life. When I looked at the comments in my hub or the hub of God/Krsna (Of myself I am nothing the Creator doith the works) I did not want to delete your comment, I just deleted the copies. I did not know at this time if you made a mistake. I just deleted.
Yes, when you do write and I read, my head just goes’ in loops (I’m not kidding) but that’s not you it’s my lack of knowledge. So Please do not take this in the wrong way. Take a look at my profile, read my hubs you will learn about me. I don’t write other things I write about me and my life. Maybe when I get 203 hubs, That will change but for now, it’s me. Again I am Sorry.
Peace, Love, Life, Health, Happiness …. JosephDiego
thank you Joseph. I'm having trouble with my browser. thanks for your comments too.
Dear Vrajavala,
Sir here on hubpages since you have the knowledge and the communication skills be interested in writing hubs on topics like Karma and Reincarnation. I have seen the discussion going in certain obama/anti christ hub about eastern philosophy (particularly Hindu/Budhist) as false concepts/religions by them.
Also please(small request if you don't take it otherwise) direct your energies focusing on bringing people to love/come closer to God(who is eternal) rather then focusing on people to hate/fear some "man"(who is temporary).
Dear, I am an American woman and when I cee that someone is trying to usurp this country from the way it was founded, then I will try to point it out. I don't believe that is hate. It looks like Obama is a nice family man. However, he is probably not eligible to be President because he was, by his own admission, a British citizen at birth. The Supreme court will hear the Donofrio court case on Dec 5th in conference which calls for an Emergency Stay of the Election. You see, the election is not over. The Electoral College will meet on Dec 15th.
BTW, Donofrio's case also calls into question the eligibility of McCain who was born in the Panama Canal, while his father was stationed there in the Navy.
Vrajavala- I am sorry if any of my words were hurtful towards you in anyway. I felt this way and said that since I see your comments in some of the hubs which thrash obama without giving him any chance to prove whether he is going to be good or bad. Anyway this discussion will have no end let the law/constitution decide the outcome.
But when someone calls the Hindu philosophy/religion as false I have seen no defense from anyone. Hence felt if someone feels so strongly about something then isn't our faith the only thing that caries on birth after birth and if someone is calling it by all these names then why no support when their is so much vitriol for something or someone who is so temporary for a period of 4/8 years compared to issues of faith. Anyway you are the best judge to decide on what issues to stand up for and what issues to pass up on.
I may look at things slightly different from yours and even have differed with some ISKCON views (since I come from Sri Sampradaya hence consider Vishnu as the supreme and Krishna as the Incarnation) but still overall I have the highest respect and regard for ISKCON values/books (I have all the volumes of Srimad Bhagvatam by Srila Prabhupad besides Bhagvad Gita asitis and daily recite vishnu sahasranam).
surprinsingly, Joel Oysteen does take thepoint of view that if you are non Christian, you can not be condemned. It's unfortunate that Christians take that point of view. BTW, I am not in ISKCON. My guru was the senior godbrother of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. However, there is diksa and siksa. when Bhakti Raksak Sridhar left the planet, his appointed disciple Srila Bhakti sundar govinda swami continued the teachings. the website is http;//scsmath.com
Another point, countrywomen, is that your concept of the Bhagavad-Gta is inaccurate. Remember that Arjuna was a soldier and the essence of the Bhagavad-Gita was, in part, Krsna instructing Arjuna to "fight". Arjuna was a ksatriya, not a brahmin, and there is an essential difference. Brahmins like my guru do not fight. Ksatriyas do. That is not to say that the Bhagavad-Gita is a hateful or domineering religion. However, it does accomodate the four classes of humans.
I read a few shloka's from BGita on&off but not regularly. My concept about it maybe inaccurate. But there have been great exceptions where Kshatriya like Vishwamitra have become Brahmarishis and Brahmins like Parasuram/Dronacharya have fought. Ok I will leave it up to you if you consider faith is not to be defended then so be it. It's time for my morning prayers. Good Bye and Have a great day. Hare Krishna to you.
BTW, did you not receive my mail? I hope and pray your family is well in India.
Vrajavala- I got your email. Yes the terrorist attack is over and things are slowly returning back to normalcy. Btw I have been to Gujarat but I am not a Gujarati. We belong to Iyengar Brahmin Family following the Sri Sampradaya http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Vaishnava
Btw If you do follow Hare Krishna movement then that is part of ISKCON isn't.
I thought you were a man because Vraja vala (in Hindi Vala is a guy and Vali is a girl). I know we all tend to identify a lot with our material bodies (American/Indian man/woman) but in our childhood we have been taught not to feel such strong association to this bodily conception but consider our soul and its emancipation. One of the reason I ate meat when I did is to get rid of the Brahminical origin and its strict regulations when I was a teenager(sort of like rebel against it and I was kind of stupid at that time).
Yes you are free to identify with whatever you want to and also whatever causes you want to. I have seen how strongly you feel about somethings and how others aren't much of a concern.
I have been told in those places how my grand father's soul would be eaten by "worms" and that the Hindu religion is false. My stand is clear I would rather feel comfortable with those who are open to my beliefs in Karma/reincarnation and who if they feel closer to Obama (who will only last for 4/8 years and making as little an impact in this one lifetime of mine compared to many many life times earlier/or in future lifetime)is fine with me then side with those who condemn, criticize and mock at thousands of years of Vedic philosophy and side with the republicans themes(of which I don't necessarily have anything against).
I am sorry if I said anything to hurt you. I apologize for saying those words as frankly as possible without may be being as polite as possible. Good Bye and Hare Krishna to you.
Vrajavala- I don't know why no response is due for my previous comment. When my dead grand father and other vaishnavas who died have been told in no uncertain terms to be "condemned to hell & eaten by worms" isn't worthy to merit as a vaishnava apradha. But anyone or any hub against Obama is more dear to align with. My friend an enemy's enemy isn't always a friend. Good Bye and Hare Krishna to you.
I sent a fan mail to you as soon as I heard about Mumbai offering my condolences to any of your family that might have been affected. I have written extensively on my feelings that the Islamist "so-called" religion is not that at all but a politcal agenda that we have to fight against. Here are my posts on another site http://starmaker.today.com/2008/12/03/deepak-chopr http://starmaker.today.com/2008/11/19/sharia-law-t http://starmaker.today.com/2008/11/18/victory-in-i http://hubpages.com/hub/British-Terrorists-Attacke
Vrajavala- Madam again you have not addressed the core points I raised. I guess your disdain for Islamic philosophy outweighs your love for Vedic Philosophy. I and many other vaishnava's have been said so many things by the so called "christians" but still I see no support. Like Abhimanyu I will try single handedly as long as I can to withstand for what I believe is the only thing of importance (birth after birth for my soul).
I saw your mail and FYI everyone I know personally is safe in the Mumbai tragedy. Btw have you heard of the recent ISKCON Krishna Temple attack by the "christians" in Manipur (such incidents are not reported in the west).
I will rather spend my time loving and defending my faith (vedic philosophy) then spend it on finding fault with some other philosophy like Islam.
Have a good day and Hare Krishna to you my friend.
'I will rather spend my time loving and defending my faith (vedic philosophy)". Question: isn't that what I am trying to do? Arjuna had toconduct a major war in order to defend the Vedas. Barack Obama is a "stealth jihad' whose aim it is to destroy Hinduism, Chritianity and Judaism. The pen is mightier than the sword. Therefore, I am writing against the jihadism and what I perceive is his undercover islam agenda. sorry you don't agree.
BTW "Vraja" comes from the Bhagavad Gita 18:66"sarvam paritjajya, mam ekah saranam vraja" abandon all forms of religion and just serrender to me...I shall protect you from all sinful reactions. do not fear"
Vraja vala means the one who has the stregth (vala or bala) to surrender (vraja)
Madam- In Hindi(a language which majority of the indians speak) for a guy it means Delhi vala and for a girl Delhi vali. But if it was BrajaBala I could have translated it to meant vrajavala (since in a particular state in India Bengal they don't have an alphabet for V they change everything to B). I know Bala means strength but originally I thought a guy who resides in vraj by that name vraja vala. I hope you understand why I mistook you for a guy since it is common in India for guys of a particular place to be addressed as vala in this case vrajavala.
yes my guru is in Calcutta.
