Solar, Wind, what next? Cars that run on Water?
As shock as you may be, I found that it has been done!
Why do you think there was the introduction of the Smart Car &/or Hybrid? We all know the answer to the good old question of Gas prices. What do you think, 10 to 15 years left?
With the price of fuel rising to unheard of prices, crude oil reaching new heights, we can all learn to jump on the renewable energy bandwagon.
Did you know that Water powered cars are being built by many people around the globe? Seriously! The plans for a water powered car are readily available on the internet.

Learn to live off the grid.
Off the Grid living may look hard, or it may look as though you have to go without, but it's realatively easy and with your savings you can travel.
I have been watching my brother, his wife and family live off the grid for over 15 years now. I have always listened to what Les had to say about how they were saving on heat and hydro bills throughout the year but I guess I never really heard what he was saying until this past year.
You see, their son came to stay with us for the summer. I began chatting about what was happening in his life. You know, college he is attending in the fall, girlfriends, etc. After a brief discussion, he says "you know uncle, the best thing in my life right now is watching my mom and dad" I was rather supprised to here that. You see, most children want to go do their own thing. They don't really worry about their parents. Not that they don't care, they just have all of their life ahead of them. They're ususally too busy living for themselves.
Well, he continued, Dad is just so excited about his new book. He has wrote alot of 'how to' stuff on renewable energy, solar, wind and even gardening tips. I am just so happy to see him be rewarded so well for his work.
This set me back a bit as I wondered just why just how rewarding it could be. I am a stickler for the facts when I want to know something. I didn't really know anything that they had going on. I have been so busy, that I don't really get to chat to my brother Les. Not like we used to. We live a long way apart and when we do get together we have to catch up on all the things since our last visit. I guess I just havn't heard anything he has been telling me for years. Sad really.
I asked my nephew to tell me everything he could. So, in the coming months, not only did he tell me, he helped me create my own wind power system. He told me we could do it for just over $100. So, I said let's do it. Show me how.
Now, I have to tell you that the first thing he said to me is " Uncle, this is my families business, and our information, would you be willing to actually purchase my dads e-book on ' how to ' do it? Well, of course I would. That way, I will have my own copy of what we are doing, and my brother deserves to be rewarded for his work.
So, Andrew ( my nephew ) shows me the website that he built for my brother, his dad and family. Very amazing website called Off Grid Living.
The site has some amazing information about conservation, solar power, wind power, and how to harness that information. I have ordered his books and to learn more, you should too.
I've done it. Up and running!
With the help of my nephew, and a weekend, we built a wind mill generator. Added an outside light system and and interior lighting system including both bathrooms fully lit all night long.
The first night we had it all done, I was a bit disappointed because there was no wind but when I woke up the next morning, I could tell that the bathroom lights were on. So fantastic.
After only 3 days, I can tell you that I am excited to see how long it will take me to get a return on my investment.
Learn to save and conserve or simply use an alternative source. Renewable energy is great.
Next, I am going to add solar panels.
There are 5 GREAT books offered right now.
The first book is about Homemade Wind Generators
A quote from 'Off Grid Living'
"If you're serious about living off the grid you have probably looked into buying solar panels or wind generators. The problem is that it's just too expensive to buy enough solar panels or a big enough wind generator without breaking the bank."
Come and see how the family built one of their first prototypes for a very low cost. Then build your own. Use their helpful book.
Solar Panels
A quote from 'Off Grid Living'
"The great part about this is that you can save a lot of money by installing and wiring the solar panels yourself. Trust me, once you've been shown how to do it the rest is easy... it's getting someone who can explain it without using rocket scientist lingo."
They offer a great information and installation guide for the do it yourself person. The guide is down to earth english and allows you to learn at your own pace.
The other three books are:
Learn to create Biodiesel fuel.
Renewable Energy Solutions.
And How to Build a Home.
Find all of these 5 Great books at link above.

James,
Great Hub. Generating our own power takes us back to the pioneering spirit of self-sufficiency. Given the state of the economy and our interdependence on others sources of energy, I think it's just smart to look at becoming energy-independent IN OUR OWN HOMES.
Solarman,
I have so many questions. How long did it take you to build your panel? How much money are you saving? And, in your opinion, would it be difficult to do for the average intelligent lady who has a very basic knowledge of power tools and no previous knowledge of wiring?
