How do you start living thinner?

Eat more at breakfast

Start your day with something filling like oatmeal. I add a banana and maple syrup for taste. It only takes a couple minutes to cook real oatmeal in a microwave. This option is cheap, filling, and healthy.

Take another piece of fruit with you if you need a snack. That way you can stay away from sugary snacks.

Drink more water

Not only are you doing something good for you body you are probably getting up to walk to the bathroom more.

When you take your breaks at work go get a drink of water and walk around a bit -- stretch your arms, legs, back, and wrists. The better your body feels the easier it is to stay active.

Be lazy in a different way.

Instead of driving around looking for the closest parking spot park in the first spot you find and walk the rest of the way.

When you have something to think about get up an pace a bit. Keep a limited number of supplies at your desk. Walk to the supply area to refill as needed.

Clean up your act.

When I clean my house I wear 1.5 pound wrist weights. By the time I am done vacuuming, dusting and hauling laundry I can feel my arms.

I take my dog for two 15-minute walks a day, even though we have a yard. I take my outgoing mail to the box every morning and pick-up my mail every evening separate from other tasks.

The average American takes less than 7,000 steps in a day. Choosing a couple things per day to "take the long way" could be the difference between thin and pudgy.

You have to make your own decisions about what is right for you. In total, a modest amount of syrup is better than eating a whole pastry because you have a sweet-tooth.
