Mexican American Tacos!

What happens when an American girl dates a Mexican Man? Mexican Tacos turn into Mexican-American Tacos! Mexicans make wonderful taco's, I on the other hand make quik and wonderful tacos. I give credit to all mexicans that make homemade tacos. Homemade tacos are the best. This article will provide a quik and easy mexican recipe for tacos.

Ingredients for Mexican American Tacos:

  1. Tortillas- 1 pack of corn or yellow corn tortillas.
  2. Hamburger- 1 pound of hamburger meat
  3. Seasoning- 1 package of original Taco Seasoning
  4. Water- 1 cup of water
  5. Vegetable oil- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  6. Cilantro- 1 bunch of cilantro
  7. Tomatoes- 4 roma tomatoes
  8. Cheese- 1 package of Mexican pre-shredded cheese
  9. Hot Sauce- Hot or mild Salsa
  10. Optional ingredients: Onions, gaucamole, olives, sour-cream and lettuce.

Instructions to make Mexican American Tacos

Pre-heat two frying pans. One small frying pan will be used for cooking the tortillas and one frying pan will be used for the cooking of the main ingredients. The main ingredients to Mexican-American tacos is the hamburger meat and taco seasoning.

Place the 1 lb. of hamburger meat into the large skillet and cook the meat on medium. Cook the hamburger meat until it is fully cooked. When their is no more pink or redish color in the meat, the hamburger is done. When the hamburger meat is fully cooked, add the one cup of water and 1 package of original taco seasoning. Stir until the ingredients are well mixed. Reduce the heat of the stove to Medium-Low or to Low. Cover the ingredients with a lid and simmer. The water and seasoning should now be thickening. Stir occasionally.

In the smaller frying pan, pour in the vegetable oil. You are now going to be frying the tortillas for the tacos. Place a tortilla into the pan and within the minute, the tortilla will be sizziling and should be absorbing the vegatable oil. Once you see little bubbles appearing on the tortilla, it is time to flip the tortilla and cook the other side. Using a fork helps flip the tortilla without it tearing. Depending on how you like your tortillas, you can cook them longer to make them hard shelled. The longer you cook them, the harder they will be. Repeat the process for each tortilla. This recipe will make 10 tacos. Place the cooked tortillas on a plate with a napkin or paper towel. The paper towel will absorb the remaining oil and the taco will contain less fat.

Prepare the toppings for the tacos. You now want to dice up the four roma tomatoes and chop up a handful of fresh cilantro. The cilantro should be a subsitute for the lettuce. American tacos contain lettuce and Mexican tacos usually have cilantro. You can find fresh cilantro in the produce department at your local grocery store.

You can also add your additional toppings to the tacos. Many Americans have sour-cream, lettuce, and olives on their tacos. Mexicans also add diced up onions and don't use sour-cream as often.

I hope you enjoy your delicous Mexican-American Tacos!

Your cilantro should look like this at the store. Many people confuse fresh cilantro with dried seasoned cilantro

Great job! We do tacos quite a bit here so I may have to give this a try. Could you use flour tortilla's instead, don't much care for the corn ones?
