Just make each member of the family knows tha main exit, fire exit and for the second floors make sure that there are stairways from which they can go out from the windows.about the windows, if you have grills make sure that it can be pulled by the firetruck. Because many of the fire incidents,grills are one of the cause why some victims were trapped. and have seminars about fires,if possible.

Basically, just let there be an easy access to go out.
