How to make a pet hammock with a pocket

Hammocks are easy since you are just cutting squares it wouldn't be much of a patern.
If you can find a big sturdy baby blanket it can save some work and you can use that for the bottum and just stitch hanging loops onto it. I did that last time. This time because I bought a cute thing at a trift store instead of new fabric I had extra steps to turn the rectangle into a square. But we'll give dirrections from scratch and just go buy the fabric.
Need: fabric, strap material, like on back packs, needle and thread or a sewing machine and know how to use it
Cut 2 big squares of the fabric you want for the bottom. Lets assume you want 30x30. If you want a 30x30 hammock you'll need to cut at least 31" squares then stitch it an inch in from the edge. When you sow the squares together Take 2 of the straps looped inward at the corners of the squares at one side and stitch them between the fabrick and go over it a few times to hold it tight. You have the option of threading the hanging clips onto the straps before sewing it togeter but I use shower curtain loops so I can remove them for washing. If you need to cut the strap material you will need matches handy to sing the edges or they will unravel. Leave a gap somewhere so you can turn the square inside out, the loops will now be on the outside. You can put some batting inside now if you want some insulation. Fold the fabrick in at the opening and stitch the gap shut.
Now the bottom is done, on to the top pocket option. (If not adding a pocket stitch all the loops in the corners befor turning it inside out.)
You want rectangles now something like 30x27 or 25 It doesn't need to be exact but enough room to snuggle inside and not come right to the edge of the bottom or it's hard to get in(not 30x30). So cut 31x28 or 26 and sow like above turning inside out and finish no loops but you can add batting if you want. I just used fleece as the inner peice of fabric this time. Take the top outside of the pocket hammock and lay it against the botum outside of the bottom of the hammock. Have it against the side with no loops so the opening of the pocket will face were the loops already are. Put the two remaining loops at the corners of the back of the pocket where they are missing, again face them inward. Stitch around the three sides of the pocket then turn the pocket hammock inside out. Now all loops will be on the outside and the fabric you wanted inside the pocket will be inside. Clip any loose threads add the hanging hooks/clips if you didn't already and hang.
