How to Make an Area Rug Stay in Place on a Carpeted Floor

Rubber rug mats...say that three times fast! Area rugs can slip and slide on any surface including carpeted and solid surface floors. It may seem unusual to put an area rug on top of wall to wall carpeting, but some people do this to protect the flooring in high traffic areas or if they rent their home. It is easier and less expensive to replace an area rug that is stained then to replace all the carpeting. It is also easier to clean an area rug then carpeting if the need arises. The best way to keep them from slipping is to purchase a rug mat or pad, either pre-cut or cut it yourself to the shape and length of the offending rug. A rug mat or pad is either a textured rubber material that "sticks" to surfaces without harming them or a felted like rubber material that "clings" to surfaces without harming them. They are usually cream or gray colored.

Thanks for answering my request, Jennab. I'll have to try a rug mat and see if that solves my problem.
