Fried Ice Cream-America's New Favorite Treat?
59Fried ice cream may not sound to appealing to some people, but it really does taste great, and its really easy and fun to make. It's versitile and a great treat if you're entertaining. You can make it a bunch of different ways, and either way it's made, it'll impress you.
Of course you'll need ice cream (enough to make 4 balls), 2-3 eggs and either corn flakes or frosted flakes. You'll want to form the ice cream into 4 round balls (the diameter should be about 3-4 inches) and then place the ice cream balls in the freezer for about 15 minutes. After they're re-frozen, remove them from the freezer and roll them in the eggs (beaten of course) and roll them in your crushed cereal. Place them back into the freezer for about 20 minutes and repeat it again twice. After that, heat some oil in a pot until its really hot (350 degrees or higher) and fry the balls for about 5-8 seconds or until they're lightly brown. Make sure to remove them as soon as they're done or the ice cream will melt inside. Place them back into the freezer until you're ready to serve. Dont want to leave your fried ice cream plain? Dress it up! You can top and garnish it with just about anything. Whipped cream, mint, fruit, crumbled cookies...the posibilities are endless (and all just as deleicious).
