How to make your own ringtones
71I have a Samsung D807. I have found that Samsung is pretty restrictive when it comes to ringtones and downloading free games on your PC and loading them on your phone. I'm not positive, but if I can use this method with my Samsung, it will most likely work with your cell phone too.
First you need to get audio editing software. There are many free programs available out there, you just have to look. One that I have tried out and seems to work well is Wavosaur.
Using your editing program, open a song file you would like to change into a ringtone. With Wavosaur, you can click on the sound waves of the song and drag to highlight sections of the song. Pick a section of the song you would like to be your ringtone. The section you choose needs to be short enough to be less than 600KB (at 160kbps about 30 seconds). Some programs will allow you to change the bit rate of your file, which will allow you to have a longer clip at a lower quality. You can get real creative and edit your clip so when it loops as your ringtone it will sound seamless. In Wavosaur, to cut out just the section you have highlighted, go to 'Edit' and 'Trim crop', this will make only the highlighted section visible, and only it will play with the play button.
When saving your new ringtone, you must save it as an .mp3 file. With my phone I have to save the ringtones as .3gp.mp3 files. To do this I just added .3gp at the end of the filename and saved it as an .mp3 file.
To get your new ringtone on your phone, you can either use cables that work with your phone that connect to your PC, Bluetooth File Transfer, or if you have a removable memory card, such as a microSD card, there are SD adaptors available for them that can be plugged into most memory card slots. (Note: You should research and check what will work best for your set up and not take my word for it.) Put your ringtone in the file on your phone where your other ringtones are, or in your Music folder. You should be able to go to the file and select it to be your ringtone.
If it doesn't work:
Your file is too big, or too long.
Your phone may not be compatible with ringtones made this way.
I have made 10 ringtones for my phone using this method. Hope it works for you and you can enjoy getting calls as much as I do!

Obviously it doesn't do as much as downloadable software but for online tool who can complain.
