I have learned that a good way to see if a foundation is right for my skin is to put a dab of it on my wrist right below the palm of my hand. This part of my skin usually does not get as much sun exposure as other parts of my body so it can be easier to see what the foundation will look like on my true skin color.

Being my skin has a pink undertone to it I look better with foundations that have a pinkish or beige color. Someone with skin that has a yellow undertone will be able to wear a yellowish foundation.

If you live near a department store that sells makeup chances are the sales clerks will be more than willing to work with you to find a good foundation color for your skin. It might take trial and error before you find a color that you decide is right for you but once you figure this out, it can be easier to pick out other cosmetics that are right for your skin color. This can mean a lot less guessing and a lot less bad makeup days.
