How to order KFC delivery in China
86
Sticky fingers taste good!
Ordering delivery food in China is easier than any other city in the world, and the number of 24hour delivery services is growing every day. When I first arrived in the country, I expected it to be really difficult to order delivery food such as KFC or McDonald’s in China, but actually these global corporations have been fighting for market share in the major cities, which has led to a superb level of customer support and quality of product (because they both want to be the best!).
So how do you go about ordering from KFC? Is it as easy as McDonald’s? Well…it is as easy, but it’s not as good. Let me walk you through it:
1) Calling the KFC call centre
Before you can have a delivery, you need to find out the KFC China delivery phone number! Luckily, I’ve done this work for you – it’s 4008-823-823! The phone should now be ringing…
2) Selecting English language for the person on the other end of the phone
For those expats or foreigners who are living in China, the constant fear of the person on the phone only being able to speak Chinese is something we live with on a daily basis. Fortunately, if you just say “I’d like to make an order for delivery” or something similar, they will put you straight through to an English speaking representative!
3) Register your delivery address
You now need to register the address of the house that you’re calling from, so they know who to give the food to! This also means that you can register your house to your mobile phone. This is very useful because sometimes you want to order food on the way home, so you don’t need to wait so long!
After you tell the person on the phone your address, they will confirm that there is a restaurant within range of your house. Then…it’s time for you to…
4) Order your food!
You can order nearly anything you want from the KFC menu, including chicken, wings, corn, potato, beef tacos…but you can not order French fries! This is an issue with delivery and the food arriving cold (I think), but it’s a bit annoying because sometimes you just really CRAVE those fries. Oh well….
5) Confirmation of your KFC order
They will confirm with you that you have ordered a huge amount (!) and then tell you the cost. Here comes the food!
6) Enjoy your Chinese KFC!
The food should arrive within 30 minutes, but just like McDonald’s they will probably tell you that the food will take 45 minutes just so that they are not late.
Some of the advantages over McDonald’s are:
- You can buy fresher / healthier items (well – mashed potato is a vegetable, right?)
- You can take advantage of some great deals on chicken buckets (ask the rep on the phone for current offers)
However, McDonald’s beats KFC Shanghai on the following:
- McDonald’s sells fries! What an oversight by KFC….
- KFC is not 24 hours a day, it stops taking delivery orders at 10pm. Crazy!
Anyway, if you’re reading this then you’re probably hungry – so enjoy your Chinese KFC dinner, delivered hot and fresh to your door!
