Public speaking is one of the most dreaded activities for people from all stages of life. Whether it be a student to is about to make a presentation or a high ranking employee of a MNC who is about to take a seminar all of them will face the dilemma at some point of their life. This article intends to give a slight insight into how to overcome this inherent fear.

One of the major prerequisites is to make notes beforehand itself about what is to be spoken. Instead of thinking and making up sentences in the spur, it is advisable to make notes and practice it. One of the common misconceptions is to practice in front of a mirror. This should be avoided as far as possible. Attention should be paid to the content of the speech, not to your physical appearance while making a speech.

It should all flow naturally. Ensure a good night’s sleep before the event. It is unhealthy both for your body and the speech to spend the earlier night practicing the speech. A short nap in the afternoon is recommended if the speech is to be delivered in the evening or late evening. The dress should also be modest in nature and should be something which must please the eyes of the beholder.

Public speaking is all about giving information which they are eager to hear or are in need. And the term giving should be of utmost importance. It can be loosely considered as teaching the audience which they are eager to learn from you and you are giving it to them. It has also to be kept in mind that some people might be skeptical about the speech contents and may raise minor niggles during the course of the speech. An appropriate advice would be to take no notice of them and continue with the speech.
