Some Simple Tips

Ok, I think I shouldn't be bothering telling you what is a domain name. If you really don't know what is a domain name, then here are some example : hubpages.com is a domain name, yahoo.com is a domain name, google.com is a domain name. Now understand what is a domain name?

So you can basically buy a domain name from many places such as yahoo.com, godaddy.com etc. But here, I will tell you how to pick a GOOD domain name.

People has been talking about SEO SEO and SEO, they tell you that you should have the exact phrase for the entire domain name. If the exact phrase has been taken, then you should put " - " between each word. Ok, I do believe that Search Engine will give credit to domain name with the exact phrase, however if the phrase is too long like : how-to-pick-a-domain-name.com, then forget about it.

Here are some ideas what kind of domain name you should pursue :

1) Brandable. If you are thinking of building a big website, you should have your own brand. You see big brands like Yahoo, Amazon, they do not have the exact phrase of the stuff they are selling, but everyone knows Yahoo and Amazon. Another example will be Digg, Facebook, Myspace, they do not include any keyword in the domain name at all. Therefore you should get a noticeable, rebrandable domain name.

2) Short and easy to remember. You should go for a domain name with at most two syllabus. This will allow the visitors to remember your domain name easy. You see Goo-gle, Ya-Hoo, My-Space, Face-Book etc.

3) Easy to spell, no "s" or other gramatically confusing word. This is because people may then to forget spelling the "s". Or if your domain has 2 same character joining together, people may forget to type that in too. Something like gettelevision, hottelevision etc.

That's all you need to get a good domain name. Enjoy :)
