Looks like the Ghanian has learn a lot from their counterpart.
The first time I got this type of scam, I was almost duped and excited, when the spammers inform me that I have won some Shell lucky draw worth half a million I think.
Luckily did some research & found out it was a lie. I shoot an email to Shell to take some action.
Normally the scenario they use, either like damsel in distress asking for help and love Or because of health reason.

You made a mention of Nigerian Spammers. Maybe they were the originators but now taken over by Ghanians who are sending some sort of stories of rich ground, hidden money, sharing with the respondants of the email. In fact, they are spread all over North Africa. I toured Morocco some years back and found young boys sending such emails sitting in cyber cafes. If one is hooked, one is asked to send just $25 to open a joint account for transfer of 150$ million. With such a massive pay off, many would fall of it.
