Insidious little creeps

We all have at one time or another suffered through the little buggers that are today lumped into the category of spyware. In fact, many of the sites we visit every day use tracking cookies to find out where we're headed and what we're doing when we get there.

My favorite spyware removal program is SpyBot. This program remains 'freeware' and is a good effective program for removing trojan horses and other spyware programs.

AdAware is another program that will remove these little creeps from your system.

I run both of these programs once a week (I spend a LOT of time online). I do run a firewall but too often these things get through anyway.

Good luck!

DMartel - good recommendation, those are 2 good little programs.

Quickly let me comment on one thing in your article "I do run a firewall but too often these things get through anyway." actually your firewall will usually let all of them through along with any virus. A firewall is mostly just to prevent unauthorized connections to your machine. Since ad/spyware come to you in programs you download and run (intentional or not) or through scripts run on pages you visit it is using approved ports on your machine and will not be blocked by a firewall.

ok, sorry got preachy there I mostly wanted to comment to say I thought your suggestions were good ones and to give a little gift. Here is a link for you

http://www.filehippo.com/

File hippo is a site with links to free software downloads (I am in no way affiliated with file hippo it is just one of my bookmarks *favorites to IE users*). I hope it is helpful.
