Summer is here and so are mosquitoes. The market place is flooded with candles, lanterns, oils, and plenty of bug repellant. However all of those must be purchased and take some planning prior to going outdoors. Instead of investing in traditional means for getting rid of mosquitoes try these plants.

   There are several plants known to rid off mosquitoes. Even though these may be planted in a garden you may consider planting them in pots to set about your patio or around your pool. A larger container could hold several plants for variety. 

   Some of the plants can be invasive to your yard so you may want to plant them in a self contained garden if you opt to skip planting in pots. One of the most common and popular plants is catnip. It is also a favorite for cats so you may want to think twice if you have cats in your yard as far as placement goes.

    Garlic can be grown from bulbs. It does produce a strong odor. If you like the smell garlic it won't bother you but if you don't be aware. Many bulbs have a tendency to multiple and this would be invasive to your yard.

   Lemon Grass  is another plant that has proven to keep mosquitoes away. Using a combination of these plants will produce the best result.

   Mosquitoes like water. Keeping a watch on standing water after rain is important. Emptying containers filled with water should be a priority for reducing infestations.
