Websites to leverage to finding niches online are pretty transparent to the trained eye. Want to know of topics to write about, want to know what others are searching for? need to find a niche for your marketing campaigns? well the following techniques will help you learn how to sort through information and use it to your advantage.
- About.com, is a site which is an authority site and it covers a whole range of topics. Content is uploaded everyday. One can see what is Hot currently as well as the most talked about topics are. The most interesting thing for a researcher is at the bottom of the page is a link called Site Map, click on this and you will see on the left handside of the screen a huge list of topics. Scroll down through the list and you will find topics on everything. This is a good resource to take advantage of when your doing niche research.
- Ebay Pulse is another place that shows the most popular searches currently being searched for on Ebay. At the top of the screen you can look through each of the categories and see popular searches by number for each one. this will help you with ideas of things to market your pay per click ads to.
- Ebay Pop shows the upward and downward trends of various products in various categories. On the righthand side of the screen you will see the top Ebay searches for all categories.
- Google Product Search will show the most popular items people are searching for on product search stuff to buy. Take the items on this list and plug them into your keyword research tool, to find out what volume of searches are done for each word.
Start with Search directories online
Google Directory is another place to look for various topics and subtopics to get ideas to narrow down to a niche.
Zeitgeist Searches for trends on Google, showing what the most popular searches are and the popular top 10 popular phrases.
Amazon is a great place to find popular products and top sellers for each category, narrow down see best sellers another area to pay attention to is the new releases section, this will show new and future releases coming out on amazon. So as to get you a headstart in targeting products in your marketing campaigns.
Magazines.com is another place that is good to see top titles and the most popular magazines will be listed for each category. If there is a magazine for a certain category then there must be a market for it. Use this insight to help with coming up with narrowing down a target market for your marketing campaigns, blogs or websites.

Social media sites such as Technorati can help with what is current and top tags used and topics being uploaded every hour by other bloggers. Stumble upon and twitter will provide you with the same type of transparent research marketing tool into what topics are HOt.
Clickbank is another place many bloggers and marketers look to find out what products are being promoted the most by affiliates, hot products that have a high conversion rate and popularity on Click Bank will help with picking a topic or niche for your campaigns.
Forums are another good place, there is always some type of specific niche topic forum out there that will have lots of people who regularly visit and share information such as Warrior Forum, keeps you up to date on what is happening.
A magazine called Revenue http://www.revenuetoday.com/ is a magazine that specifically covers the affiliate marketing industry, so if you want to know what the internet marketers are doing or what conventions are coming up this would be the place to look.
GMail is a good place to see what pay per click ads are targeted in your email account, to the right hand side you will notice google ads sitting there, take some time to notice how they pick ads relevent to the type of emails you receive in your Gmail box ( insider tip.. if you have more than one Gmail account, find information on the web that interests you on a particular topic and email yourself, then check to see what ads google places in your email.)
Answers.com and Yahoo Answers is another place to sit and see what people are asking questions about as well who is answering the questions.
Use Wikipedia as a Resource
one of my all time favorites just simply because they explain pretty much in detail about any topic you want to know about. Along with reference material from books to read to websites to visit. Look at this one ( NFC Near Field Communication) Near Field Communication or NFC, is a short-range high frequency wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices, such as mobile phones.
Business section in the newspaper, if you get a copy of the newspaper in your town always read the business section. It will keep you informed as to what is going on locally as well as globally.
Entrepreneur Magazine, Portfolio http://www.portfolio.com/ , Small Business Opportunities, Forbes, Inc, Computer World, Wired are all good sources of information as well.
Ezine Articles on this site for each category listed you can look at the articles that is the most read or most viewed to get an idea of what people are interested in.
Pretty much anything can be a good place to digg deeper into information and pull out some jewels.
