Save Money on Buying your Teens clothing

All teen kids grow in various stages. Some in leaps and bounds whereas others appear to stagnate. This is the problems facing parents, their children grow out of their clothes so quickly, that they cannot afford to keep buying new ones.

Here are a few simple ideas to help keep up with the growth of your children

School uniforms

Do your kids wear School uniforms if so try these ideas:

School notice boards and newsletters

Every school has its own notice boards, or newsletters, where parents and children alike can see what is happening or selling. Where better to look for second hand clothing or shoes. It is best to do this at the beginning and end of each year, as parents do not want to be stuck with clothes their children have outgrown.

Garage Sales & Flea Markets

Check out your local Garage sales and Flea Markets for any clothes that your child can wear. Shoes are the most expensive item, as boys and some girls are rough on these and will often wear out a pair of shoes in a matter of weeks. This, caused by the way they scuff them, walking and kicking things like cans, bottles, and the football on their way home.

Local Shopping centre notice boards

These are great to buy and sell anything and it is free. Remember to advertise For Sale, the clothes yours are growing out of, and on the same notice put a Wanted, for the things you need to purchase for your children or teens.

.

Auctions like EBay

This is another way to purchase teen clothing. Although, it is not good for the uniforms, unless someone lives in your area. Always know the price of an article before bidding. A number of people will pay more than the price of a new item, simply because they are carried away with adrenalin in winning an auction.

Second Hand Op Shops or The Salvation army

When checking these out, remember some days they have specials, like half price days, or twenty-five per cent off deals. This could save you heaps if you have several things to buy.

Purchased items

Now that you have your pre-loved garments, it is a good idea to give them a good wash with disinfectant added to the washing machine. Most brands of Joggers will safely wash in the washing machine, before wearing. This is a precaution from picking up tinier or other infections.

You would be surprised how many people buy all their clothes from pre-loved or second hand stores, these days. Yes, even the so-called more wealthy people. I was shocked when visiting our local stores to see people draped with gold rings, and chains around their necks, busily scrounging through the fifty-cent boxes.

We are all feeling the pinch, from the high interest rates and fuel price hikes, so do not be afraid to give these ideas a go

Good Hub Eileen. Here in the US most of the schools have no uniforms, there are too much ready made clothes here. I prefer school uniforms, I think it brings more unity among students.

And I think it makes kids more on the same kind of level. Because they do not have real expensive brand type clothes to show the poorer ones up. Thanks

Yes I think that we are all feeling the pinch with escalating petrol and rate hikes, we also have an expetionally high fuel cost which is steadily rising month by month.

I dont have kids any more, however to keep our clothing budget down, my wife Cecilia, makes her own and also educates others in the art of doing this for themselves as well. The articles are not just for sloping in the house, but all work clothes and underwear is made here at home.

Making her own clothes will help the budget thats for sure. Its more peaceful when kids leave the nest. High fuel costs and interest rate don't help the average family to survive. So we all need to cut expenses by finding ingenious ways to make ends meet. Thanks for stopping by

Thanks for the great hub.  My co-worker always has the cutest outfits, and she buy many of her clothes at the Goodwill and Salvation Army.  Also, my friend in high school used to get the most beautiful dresses for dances at the Salvation Army and these were usually only a dollar each.  I had another friend who had to buy a white shirt for her waitressing job at a fancy hotel, and she realized paying twenty dollars per shirt was a waste of money and started buying them at the Salvation Army.  Thanks for your great hub and I totally agree with what you say here.
