On a Windows PC you can add as many printers as you like. However, once you have more than one, Windows needs to know which printer it should print to by default.

The default printer is where your masterpiece will go if you just hit print in a menu or use the print button/icon as opposed to using the print... option (which normally allows you to choose the printer).

To make a particular printer the default is quite straightforward...for example in Windows Vista you need to get to the location shown below (i.e. the printers category). You can generally do this by going through the start menu, to control panel and then selecting printers. Or just type printers in the search box on the start menu and hit return - this will open the window directly.

In other operating systems just locate the printers folder via my computer -> control panel.

Once you can see your various printers you're only seconds away from setting one as your default.

Locate the printer you want to make default, right-click and select 'Set as Default Printer'. A little tick will appear on the icon for that printer to show it's now the default.

If you need to set a different printer just repeat the above on the appropriate icon.
