Google Adsense (http://adsense.google.com) is contextual text advertisements from Google that show relevant ads based on a website's content. So, if you are running a blog on Gardening, Google Adsense will scan your page and show relevant ads beside based on the context of the webpage. The advantage for the readers would be that if a reader who is interested in Gardening is reading your blog page, he might get some advertisement tailored to Gardening.

Google Ads will complement your content and will not degrade your content on most occasions. Google Ads is the number 1 contextual ad agency in the world, and arguably owns over 75% of the market. That means, no matter what you write about, there are some relevant ads which will appear on your site.

At Hubpages, you can write articles that are specifically addressed to a problem or need, so when your hubpages is published, Google Ads will appear beside your content. You need to be more specific about what you are writing about, thats why keywords are important. For instance, if you are writing about 'How to plant and nurture a Rose plant', then your article should contain the keyword "Rose plant" or "Garden" at least 6 or 7 times, so Google Ad engine will recognise that the article is about "Rose plant" and it show some advertisements related to "Rose plant".

People say that you can advertise your business online and get Google Ads for free (yes, without paying any money), you can check out this website to know more details. Google Free Ads.

How do you set up Adsense with Hubpages?

Hubpages show relevant Google Ads on your articles and when a reader clicks on the ads, you get money. You can sign up for a free account with Google Adsense, if you do not a have account already. You need to get approved by Google to start making money with Google Adsense. One of the catch is that they would ask you where ( on which web site or blog) do you want to show your ads. You may specify your hubpages (http://hubpages.com), but the best thing is to set up a free blog at Google's Blogger (http://blogger.com) and post few articles (short ones will do) for few days.

Then when you apply for Adsense, provide the address of the blog that you have created (it will look like this http://************.blogspot.com). Within two or three days, you will get an "Accepted" email from Google. If not, you can't do anything but wait. If you are not accepted into Google Adsense, then you might have provided them some wrong information or incomplete application.

If you are accepted to Google Adsense, when you login with your username and password, you should see the "Publisher Id" on the top-right corner of the screen. It will typically start with "pub-" and followed by a 16 digit number. This is the id that you will use to fill in the Hubpages affiliate settings page.

Once you get permission from Google for showing Advertisements on a blog, you can use the Adsense code for any other blog that you may start in the future. You need not re-apply every time for a new website. So, you will have one Google Adsense account

Once you get your Adsense account, you need to copy the "Adsense for content" publisher id (starts with "ca-pub-" followed by a bunch of numbers) from Google Adsense My Account page, and paste it into your Hubpage affiliate settings form.

Google Adsense ads will be automatically managed by Hubpages and you need not worry about inserting the adsense code. Hubpages selects the colour, format for you and shows the most earning ads for you. If you want to use Google Ads on other blogs, you need to copy the code from Adsense Setup page when you are logged into your Google Adsense account. But, with this option, you can specify what size and colors that your Google Ads should appear.

You will get money whenever someone clicks the ads on your page, you will get 70% of the earnings (30% goes to hubpages). You can check your earnings by logging into Google Adsense account. If you have Adsense running on other blogs and websites, you can add a 'url-channel' with http://hubpages.com to track the hubpages earnings only.

5 Tips for earning more with Google Adsense

5. Google Adsense loves texts. Publish more quality articles with lot of texts in it, you are guaranteed to earn money with Adsense.

4. Specify your keyword a number of times (do not stuff with keywords, then Adsense will classify your article as spam). Reasonably, well targeted keywords shoula appear through out the article in an uniform manner.

3. If you want to earn money with it, your hubs need traffic. Plenty of traffic. How do you bring in more people? By promoting your hubpages on MySpace, Facebook, del.icio.us, Digg and Stumble Upon.

2. Provide a catchy title to attract human beings. Because, only people click Ads so, write stunning, catchy headlines.

1. Tags are the little words using which you describe your hub article. Tags are everything, so describe your hub with lot of relevant tags. Look at the other expert hubbers to learn how they use tags.

Great article Shailini. You have really researched this Adsense business.

Meanwhile, I'm over here in Canada (miles and miles from India!) working on developing my site devoted to as many Adsense Strategies as I can find, both free and paid (I'll pass on as many of the Adsense Strategies I paid for as I dare -- just bought the Joel Comm book, for example).

Hi Milkphish,

When you signed up for google adsense you would have had to enter a username (which is usually your email address).

This is the username for logging into google adsense.

Also, you would have been asked for a password. I hope you remember that.

Use these to login at

http://adsense.google.com

In case you have forgotten your passowrd and/or login details

please click on the "I cannot access my account" link and go from there.

To your success

This is a great article. I would like to add my 2 cents though. While you can earn money on hubpages with adsense, I still feel that the earnings do not compare to the earning potential of owning your own domain. If you have 10 hubpages that is 10 pages worth of content that could be uploaded to your own domain where you'll have more control over your adsense. If you're making good money from your hubs but don't have your own website, get one!

Its a great article, It works and i think that there is a better way. I think that even blogger would be better idea for making money. The best advantage of hubpages is that it is easy to start with. But in the long term getting your own domain will get you more that 200 % + earnings.

Your acticle was interesting. I made 14 hubs, in the last 3 weeks. In the affiliate settings page, a code no. with ca-pub-xxxxxxxxx appears and in another column the message 'you refused to associate with hub' appears. I edited and entered 'ok'. In the left end column, there is a water mark box as 'edit'. But, it does not appear with kontera. What does it mean? Google has approve me. (In fact I tried for monetising, when I posted about 5/6 hubs. Now, it is 14. Furhter, another of my application has been rejected on the grounds of '6 months currency'. Can you suggest some ideas, please?
