Setting up of an Outlook Gmail account helps in managing your gmail account from a common platform i.e. Outlook, where you receive and send all the mails. This generally caters to the needs of people who have multiple accounts with various web mail services. Setting up of the outlook Gmail account is quite an easy task as you will find it while you follow the following steps for it.   

Steps to configure your Outlook Gmail account: The set up is for Microsoft Office Outlook 2000 or versions which are higher than it. Before you start with the settings make sure that you are aware of your gmail id and the password.

Step #1: Start the Outlook application and move on to the Tools tab. Now select Email Accounts from the drop down menu.

Step #2: Select “"Add a new e-mail account” on the popup window.

Step #3: Select POP3 in the section where you chose the Server type.

Step #4: In the next window that pops up, input the name which you will use to send your mails in the box for User Information.  In the box for the server information, input pop.gmail.com as the Incoming mail server and smtp.gmail.com as the Outgoing mail server. In the section for the Logon Information type your gmail id and in the password section your Gmail password. Check the “Remember Password” checkbox, so that it stores it and automatically sends or receives mail without asking for the password. 

Step 5#: Now click the button “More settings” and select the “Advanced” window tab. Input the value 995 in the “Incoming server (POP3)” box and check the below field. Next input the value 465 in the “Outgoing server (SMTP)” and also check the box below it. Now click on the ok button to return to the last window.

Step #6: Click the button “Test account settings”. This will enable the Outlook to send a test mail and receive it from the Gmail. If there are any errors then the Outlook will display an error message
