You can attach a number of hardware, like printer, scanner, digital camera and USB drive, to your Windows computer to carry out specific tasks. In order to add new hardware, you are required to install device drive for that specific hardware. Installing a compatible drive would allow the Microsoft Windows to communicate with hardware. But if the driver is not compatible or damage, you might come across STOP errors. At this point, the files stored on your hard drive can not be accessed. To restore files in such cases, you need to have proper backup. If the backup is not in place, go for File Recovery Software to retrieve inaccessible files and data.

In a practical scenario, when you install HP printer driver and restart the system, you might come across any of the underwritten error messages:

STOP 0x000000E3 RESOURCE_NOT_OWNED

Or

 “Stop 0x000000e3 (0x81d534c8, 0x8210fc20, 0x00000000, 0x00000002)
RESOURCE_NOT_OWNED

The four parameters in the above error message differ with system’s configuration.

The error messages render your system unbootable and stored files inaccessible.

Root of the issue

The major cause behind above error messages is installation of HP printer drive, which contains Hpbff2.dll file.

Resolution

To work around this problem, go through the below steps to update your system to printer drive included in operating system installation CD/DVD:

  1.     Click Start, choose Settings and select Printers.
  2.     In File menu, click Server Properties.
  3.     Select Drivers tab and choose HP driver in “installed printer drivers” box, which use    Hpbff2.dll file.
  4.     Click Remove and then OK.
  5.    Reinstall printer using drivers included in operating system installation CD/DVD.

However, when above method fails to carry out File Recovery then you need to format the hard drive and reinstall operating system. It works in most of the cases, but also removes stored files and cause complete file loss. in such circumstances, File Recovery Software come for your rescue.

These applications are particularly designed to scan the hard drive, locate lost files and retrieve them. file recovery software can recover almost all types of files easily and safely.
