How to stop being so sensitive about stuff!
63Well quite frankly it has a lot to do with most peoples low self-esteem.
I grew up in the pubs and public places of Ireland and we Irish love to make fun of each other and it is there that I learned to take it all with a grain of salt.I came to understand that if they were making fun of me they liked me and if they were silent..I was in trouble and better leave lol.
You can read all the self help books you want and some are helpful but in the end , you have to face your fears and stand up for yourself and walk away if they wont listen, any good person will not think any less of you and above all learn to laugh at yourself.Truth is everyone of us has faults, will fail, mess up etc ..we are human.
Most people struggle with loving and liking themselves it s a common problem and coupled with the fact that this world is unfair...hey wait...every problem is a relationship problem , man women, women women, earth man etc...its all relational...even the relationship with yourself.
..SO the First relationship to restore is the the one with your self !and God can help you there...not religious people..after all he is your dad and loves you for who YOU are!...then fix what you can with all the other relationships in your life and if they don't respond that's there choice...remember thats their crap not yours :0)
As regards people that INTIMADTE you..think of it this way as you look at them...within the next 100 yrs someone is going to shovel dirt on them , kind of puts them in perspective...
I know this is short but I hope it helped you some...Mike Q

Thanks Glassvisage...glad it was of some help. it was fun to write about it...good topic..Mike :0)
If I didn't have stuff to gripe about, I'd go crazy! Really! Are you trying to take away the last hobby I really enjoy? Yikes! LOL!!!
And iif we all stopped that the only true source of gripping " THE INTERNET" would cease to exist and we would be left with our mumbling selves, and cracked bathroom mirrors..LOL great one Jef!! Mikeq:0)
I'm learning that I get two things out of your Hubs, Mike...at least one idea that makes me step back and say to myself, "Wait a minute, better think about that," and, something to tickle my funny bone.
This Hub is no exception.
I didn't grow up in a place where people learned to take making fun of each other with a grain of salt (even thought there is some Irish in me). Where I grew up, if you were made fun of, you retaliated, not in a good way, or internalized the hurt. So that's the "better think about that" part.
Now about the funny bone part. And that's about the perspective you can take when you feel intimidated, the shoveling dirt part. There's another way to say that, but you chose to be a gentleman.
Not to mention the fact that your hubs generate great comments...Chef Jeff, I'm with you! :) And Mike, I loved your retort.
Your fan, Sally

Usually I say "No soup for you!" LOL!!!
GOOD ONE JEFF "I`LL OPEN A CAN INSTEAD !" LOL!!!!
This reminds me of a quote i enjoyed the other day, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not be be?"
I like your Hub,
Thanks,
J

I think this is a great way to think about this... it IS all about relationships. It's also helpful to remember than everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect... it kind of puts everyone on the same plane, and I like that :)
