How to take maximum advantage of the poll capsule
64Poll capsule is the new feature that has been added recently to already existing several capsules. Polling is such an activity that is loved and hated in 50: 50 ratio. As in politics, some political parties pursuade voters to come to polling stations and some political parties wish that voters stay at their homes and do not turn up for voting. This difference in thinking of political parties is due to their hidden self interest. If a political party is well aware that they are not going to get enough vote from a particular area, they will pray that people better enjoy their TV's in homes instead of taking pains to come to polling stations. Similar situation exists in case of websites, blogs and hubpages.

How to create a hub? Although this information may appear of preliminary nature to experienced hubbers but new hubbers will be greatly benefited as lot of their time will be saved that otherwise might have...
Since I have indicated in the title of this hub, I assume that only hubbers are to read this article. Although there is no restriction on anyone and as long as it is online I can't stop people from outside the hubpages. They will come and read. There is no problem. I titled it just to create some mystery. Otherwise there is nothing confidential except one simple clue that I 'll give in between the lines and that's the reason why I intended to restrict my readers to be from within hubpages.
1. Placement of poll capsule/location: One of my fellow hubber has suggested to use poll capsule on the top (In the begining). There can not be a thumb rule. I disagree to it. If you ask a reader to answer a question without providing information, it will be just like testing the knowledge of a student in the begining of a course. I always hate that. Other purpose of placing a poll in the beginig and then putting a poll capsule in the bottom to take second opinion will mean that you wish to impose your thought on the reader and want to know how much you have influenced him . In my opinion, hubbers can use multiple poll capsules but its better to place them in the end.
2. Using single or multiple poll capsules: This decision will depend on the content and nature of the topic of your hub. In some cases you can insert multiple poll capsules and soilicit the opinion of viewers on interlinked issues. But never place more capsules if you don't have enough questions to ask. Theme of some hubs may not allow to use multiple poll capsules.
3. Never ask viewers opinion about hub: Its not wise to seek viewers opinion about a hub. If you ask viewers whether he or she liked the hub or not. It may hurt the ego of the viewer. He may express his opinion in the comments capsule. Even if a viwer caste his vote, in all likelihood, he will never make a comment in the comment box.
4. To use or not to use a poll capsule: Always use a poll capsule in the end of a hub.
- It will provide colors to your hubs.
- Viewers will be back to see others opinion
- Some viewers always try to satisfy their ego and impress upon others that they were always correct
5. How to extract viewer's opinion: You might have experienced that nobody has voted to your poll capsules for several days. There has not been a single vote. This simply shows that nobody wish to break the ice. So what to do. Although not morally good but you have no other option. First vote to your poll has to be casted by you. Not so bad too. You know one vote will not make much difference but to set the thing in motion you can do it.
6. Designing the question of poll requires some sort of art & intelligence: You have to read people's mind. Hence, design your questions using intelligence.
I am reproducing an example (snapshot -right side bar) from one of my hub where I have used multiple poll capsules:

How about a "pre poll" and an "after info poll" to see if the information changed their view? As a teacher, pre-tests were very valuable, -- prevented covering material they already knew, and also showed if learning or a change ocurred.
Just a thought...I loved your information here and will try to use it as I learn about this capsule. thank your for your preparation and sharing it....now I'm off to try to put it to use!
A pre poll and an after poll is a good idea. Anyway, good take on this, Prem.
interesting, you didnt add a poll to this hub :D
I think it was good to not add a poll to this hub. Opinions might be more valuable. I agree with a lot of what was said, and (as you noted) it is another way to add a graphic element to a hub and break up long blocks of text. The other positive thing is that it MIGHT bring back viewers to see how others voted.
And, as always, there is always a thumbs up or down to evaluate an overall opinion of the hub.
Constructing the polls is another problem-- In some, there are no options to "yes or no" answers. Perhaps the last option should be: "See my comment".
Iam not sure if people really want to participate in a poll. I myself experimented in a hub but no response so far. But I like the idea of polls for evaluation purposes.
Thanks marisuewrites for your valuable comments. Using Pre-Poll is just like a bench mark survey. The most polite way to ask a visitor could be to ask whether the visitor liked your hub or not. In such case no Pre-Poll is required.Students case is different. They are bound to answer your questions but here visitors may or may not like to reply. As I said earlier people like to follow others the path shown by them. Nobody likes to be a follower. Beacuse of this, people come back to see whether their opinion counts or not.
Thanks dishyum, shadesbreath, anime_nanet, Rochelle Frank and countrywomen for your comments and views on using the poll capsule.

Your useful hub came out while searching one to assist me formulate my poll capsule. From Philippines to India, kindly receive and acknowledge my heartfelt thanks. But I have one query- Should the poll question be confined only to the content of the particular published hub under which the poll capsule is being formatted?
