Begin at young age.

When to start reading?

There is no specific limit of age to any child to start reading. At their babbling stage, you may talk with expressions that pull these toddlers interest in you. As children grow to up at age of 3, have conversations with them often and encourage he or she to ask questions. Asking questions is the paramount skill in reading comprehension that is almost the goal of all reading instruction.

Start with alphabets. Introduce your child each of the letter's sound. Combine letters with vowel letters and let them hear you out. Children at that stage has an excelent memory power, that early introduction usually bring to a success in learning phonics.

Children learn to read through a long series of tiny steps. Praise your child often when your he or she child reads even just a few words. Celebrate these small successes. It will motivate your child and open a world of knowledge.

An important factor before you start any simple reading lesson, make sure you turn off the television and the computer and read to your child. Establish a regular reading time every night. Have fun with the books you read, by giving the characters distinct voices, or acting out scenarios from the stories. Have conversations about what you read. Ask your child questions about the stories and encourage him to ask questions in return. Much of the online content can be downloaded for free or purchased in print form, to be read away from the computer.

An excellent reading program with phonics that I used on my children is ClickN’ READ Phonics. It is the first ever reading program to teach just like a live tutor. It is the only product needed to teach a child to read! It also works great for learning disabilities and adults learning to read English. With internet access, ClickN' Read Phonics are available anywhere.
