74First check the body. Any sort of "Wave" in the reflection on the car will indicate that the body as been bent in some way.
Check for any signs of the car being repainted. Usually you can check under the hood and if it was repainted you will see the two different colors.
Alignment is also a good way to tell if you're suspicious. If the car is way out of alignment pulling left or right when you drive it may have been in an accident.
Check the tire tread. Check for even wear on every tire. This one ties in with alignment for the most part.
If you're serious about buying a vehicle, do a background check on the vehicle at a site liek CarFax and take it to a mechanic to get looked over.
No deal is too good to forego this step, no matter who the seller says is interested in it. How much will it be worth to you if you find out it has a salvage title somewhere down the line?
Remember, there are plenty of used vehicles out there. Don't settle and wait for a real gem.
Accidents aren't the only thing you should be concerned with though, also request service records. If none are available you really have no idea how well the car was maintained.
Overused fluids can lead to leaks and other problems that damage engines and render them useless far before their time.
