Thrift store shopping can save you money
Thrift store shopping can save you money

Don't be afraid of secondhand places!

People often ask me for simple tips to save them money. Often, some of the simplest ways/tips are sitting right under your nose! And also, one of the best places for saving money when shopping is not far away! But why don’t we use them?

There are a couple of reasons: (a) we just never thought of it or (b) pride stops us.

Let me share something from my book with you -

Don’t be afraid of second hand places.

There are so many things you can buy secondhand… clothing, furniture, white goods, electrical goods, cars, even houses. And there are so many places you can buy them – shops, privately, even on the internet and just because they’ve had previous owners doesn’t mean they’re no good.

How often have you bought something, used it once, then given it away? Or how often have you had a garage sale to get rid of your surplus goods?

Charities appreciate people like you… and you’ve probably told them “there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just like new”. So… if you’re prepared to give away things you’ve only used once, don’t be ashamed to go to a secondhand place to buy something that you’re only going to use once.

You’ll save a lot of money… and nowadays there is no shame in being seen in a ‘pre-loved’ shop… it’s even considered to be quite “chic”.

If you really are worried about what your friends might think - take them with you and discover the delights of a shopping expedition which won’t cost the earth. You’ll probably even have money left over for a coffee.
