How a Newbie Real Estate Investor Can Become a Real Estate Heavyweight
The biggest problem in real estate investing is that you have many people
who have the desire to be successful real estate investors, but their
fear of the unknown holds them back. For example, take me. I have been
studying real estate since 2002. I attempted my first deal in 2007. That
is a five-year gap to get the "nerve" to step in that direction.
Unfortunately, I didn't close on that deal and I haven't move forward
since. Until now. You know why? Because I'm sharing my experience with
others. I'm not the only one in this boat. There are many others who are
with me in this same boat. What can each of us do about it? Tell our own
story. I've shared my story on realestateinvestor.com,
internetinvestorsclub.com and superomwanlifestyle.com. I've been ashamed
and holding onto the embarassement of it taking me so long to get my
first deal done. Since I've been writing about it, I've started to
believe again. I'm taking more action toward getting my first deal done.
I've started marketing my business - OMG! Did I actually write that down.
Yes, I've started marketing my business.
There is still a problem though - I'm still afraid of doing it. Now don't
get me wrong. There are plenty of others who have gone out and done their
first deal-- fear and all. We all hear that you are supposed to take your
fear with you and move forward. But how do you do that when you're
paralyzed with fear? The answer may lie in your personality type. I'm an
Introvert. How about you? Are you an Introvert or an Extrovert?
Extroverts have an advantage. They are less shy and unafraid to put
themselves out there. I'm an Introvert who wants to be an Extrovert
dynamo in real estate. I can see it all now. I'll use Sophia Petrillo's
line from the Golden Girls, "picture it, Atlantic City, NJ December 2009,
here I am, Simone Hardy, on the Oprah Winfrey Show - Millionaire Real
Estate Mogul, philanthropist and Mover & Shaker. Wow! Isn't that awesome?
I see it all in my head but how do I make it happen - for real? Ahh!
There's the rub! How? How does one get over the fear?
In a word - Confidence. How do we gain the confidence we need to move
foward, step out and do that first deal? By writing about it. Sharing
with others your experience. Since you've read alot of books, purchased
different courses, etc., you have a lot of resource and research
knowledge. You can share this in forums and rei sites (where allowed) and
become members of these communities offering legitimate input that you
can build relationships with and gain trust.
You can utilize this knowledge to offer affiliate products to your
friends/followers, which will produce an income stream. The amount is not
that important. What is important is that you are building your
confidence. Even though you have not done a deal yet, you are still
taking action and making a contribution in your favorite arena - real
estate investing - and making some money to boot.
As your confidence grows, your bank account grows and more importantly
your fear diminishes. As your fear diminishes, you move forward to
becoming that real estate millionaire mogul you always saw in your head -
that Real Estate Heavyweight.
