How To Build A Website That Works
58Create Your Own Successful Web site
Did you know that statistics show an increase of new Web sites popping up on the Internet? As a matter of fact, about one hundred to three hundred new Web sites a day! More and more people are converting from the traditional business format of selling products locally or regionally to internationally, by way of the Internet.
Do you have any idea on how many of these new Web sites are going to be successful? Not very many of them, I assure you. Why? Bear with me as I try to explain the concept of creating a Web site that works.
To understand more about the difference between a Web site that works and a Web site that doesn't, a history lesson is about to unfold. Let us first look at the brick and mortar traditional store that we have always shopped at. In real estate terms, it used to be location, location, location. The store that was in the 'hot' zone of shoppers, was the store that sold more product than the store that was way out of the way of all the shoppers. The 'hot' zone, as I put it, was the location that was centered on all the traffic of people.
Back when I was a child, all the best shopping, actually the only shopping was done downtown. In the '60's this location was replaced with your typical Malls. Every city had at least one. Then a few years ago a switch was made from the giant Malls to the smaller, Strip Malls, that were smaller, but much more convenient to shoppers. Today, with the ever increasing amount of competition for shoppers, most businesses can not rely on just the amount of local traffic that their store gets. They have to widen their net, so to speak, to capture more customers from abroad. Now enters the Internet.
With the Internet, businesses can now capture customers from around the world, 24/7. Life is good, or at least for the businesses that happen to be on page one of the Search Engines. Everyone knows about the Search Engines, right? Google.com, Yahoo.com and MSN.com are the three big search engines. Anytime a shopper/customer goes online to find a particular item or product they just type in the name of that product into the search box. In less than one second page one of that certain search engine appears on the screen with the most relevant Web sites that the shopper used for their search term. This Keyword that was typed into the search box, is what Web sites use in their description and Keyword title. These are called Meta-Tags, which allow the search engine to locate a Web site that is located somewhere out in cyber-space.
To make a long story short, for a business to get listed onto page one of the search engine is what all Web sites are striving to accomplish. It is vital to their existence. Enter SEO, or Search Engine Optimization.
SEO is basically the webmaster's attempt to build his Web site as close to the search engines algorithm formula as possible, to rate higher than his competition. This boils down to better placement on the search engines page. Easy right? It is not as easy as you think.
Good SEO techs that someone hires to build their Web site are expensive, and not all SEO techs are what they claim. Hence forth the difficulty in getting onto page one of the search engines. Since search engines are evolving, what was used yesterday to build a Web site that shows up on page one of the search engines will not work tomorrow. Search Engines as Google claims are becoming more human-like in judging whether one Web site is more relevant than another Web site that is using the same Keywords and description for their Meta-tags.
Where Does One Start?
You must have a plan. You must know where you want to go before you can build a successful plan. Take my poor husband as an example. In 2006 after reading a lot of information he discovered on the Internet, he was 'Full Torpedoes Ahead' in getting started doing business on the Internet. Sink or swim, is more of the correct term. His goal, of course, was the 'get rich quick' scheme that he was so suckered into believing. On the Internet the 'get rich quick' scheme is a fallacy. After spending a lot of money, and without asking for my opinion or blessing, he eventually learned a lot of hard lessons. One of which was to forget about competing with Wal-mart. You can't compete against a giant with deep pockets on your shoestring budget.
The hard lessons taught him to first and foremost, get my approval. Or at least let me know what 'we' are doing, since what he does affects both of us. He has since slowed way down and does his necessary research first before plunging in head first. He has learned that there are hundreds, thousands even, of scam artist all over the Internet. He has finally come to the realization that if it sounds too good to be true, it is NOT true.
What Am I Trying To Say?
Multiple streams of income are possible and necessary in these turbulent times. The only way is to have at least one, if not more, Web sites to achieve this goal. Hundreds of people are entering the Internet daily, to shop as well as to profit. The one thing that my husband and I both agree on is:

If you want the best and easiest way, at beginning your multiple streams of income by building a successful Web site, SBI, is the place to go to find out. There you can look, read, think, read some more, and find out if you are cut out to own and operate a Web site. Ken Evoy is my hero! If not for him, my poor husband would probably have us in the poor house by now. I am just kidding about my husband, (ya think?). No seriously, see what I am talking about. It won't cost you anything. The information that you will get is worth ten-fold to what you would spend on your own anywhere else. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Just my two cents anyway.
