How Can I Get Comments and Traffic to my Hubs?

I've Made a Hub, Where are the Comments and Traffic?

It's pretty easy to have success on HubPages. Here are a few tips. Note: This is for people just starting off with HubPages.

A Few of Hubbers I'm a Fan Of - There are lots more

#1 Start by Becoming Others Fans

Anyone at HubPages can become a Fan of another author. You can find links to join a persons Fan Club on their Hubs and on their Profile page. Find Hubbers/authors you like and join their Fan Club. Don't be surprised if they join yours:)

#2 Leave others Comments

Participate in the discussions. Leave thoughtful comments (see the hubbers that commented on this hub) on other Hubs. Comment frequently, and soon you'll find others comment on your Hubs as well.

#3 Say Something New and Be Timely

Two great ways to have people find your Hubs that are often overlooked is say something original on a topic and be the first to make a Hub on it (Jimmy did well with getting this one out as it broke), like breaking news.

#4 A Few Links with High Quality Hubs

Sometimes all it takes is one or two links from another site to your Hub to start the traffic flowing. Lots of people link to Hubs when they are high quality and useful (Robin has tons of natural links to her grammar Hubs). Just publish high quality Hubs frequently, and the links will come.

* Also, when you link to other Hubbers, they sometimes link back to you.

#5 Answer a Request

If someone asks a question and you have a high quality answer they will often bookmark the page and use it as a resource (traffic) and comment on the Hub.

I linked to Digg.com with my boorish drivel and downright poor excuse for Hubs. I got over 500 hits and lots of comments. I also have been leaving comments on other Hubs and can say that it is a fact that most will visit your Hubs.

Thanks for the tips,

Paul, thank you for the link, this is a great hub and very useful to new hubbers, as well as to seasoned hubbers like ourselves, as we some times need reminding of some of the basics now and again. another way I have found which helps to encourage traffic and comments is to add a link to your blog, I find that I get a few visitors from my 2 blogs and the extra backlinking to your hub can only be to your advantage in the search engines..........jimmy

It also helps to reply to comments made on your hubs, as most people like to know their comments were appreciated in some way. My blog would never have become so popular if I hadn't done that.

Thanks, Paul! Didn't know these things since I just joined hubpages a couple of days ago. Also, if anyone is an "eBayer," they might want to put a link to their hubs on their "About Me" page.

Paul,

This is off subject sort of but how many programming designs and applications did hubpages go through to get to this stage?

For example, to keep all the comments in hubtivity for all the hubbers cross comments and statistics must be fairly complicated and taken several different approaches.

@issues veritas

We've been working on the site since January of 2006. I can't possibly count the design interations, although there have been two major redesigns and a third one coming. Yes, the backend is pretty sophisticated. One of the technical challenges is to keep the performance of the site up as it grows quickly. There is a team of about seven people that work on HubPages everyday. Four of them are engineers, one designer, and two for the community.
