Am I the only one that cares about these cute towel animals?

Hello!? Am I the only person on the whole planet that cares about making those cute towel animals that you get when you go on a cruise?

My husband and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas (fun!) and each night we came back to our cabin, the stewards had folded our towels into neat animals. It was really neat....I mean, one night it was a towel elephant, the next a towel swan, the next a hanging karate monkey thingy!

They always had them positioned on our bed (or in our closet!) in an interesting way that made them look alive almost. One time they even took a hat out of my bag and used it as an accessory for one of them.

Everybody was talking about these towel critters so much that they held a little class on how to make them that I got to go to. It was a lot of fun, and the stewards showed me how to make the elephant and hanging monkey. I even made one for my husband when I got back to the room!

Well, when we got back to Virginia my husband went on the internet and searched for "towel animals" and "cruise ship towel animals", etc., and found a few towel folding books on Amazon and some drawn diagrams.

I really wanted some way to be shown how to do it instead of trying to follow pictures (I'm just not good at that). But we got a book anyway. It was really hard to follow, but eventually I was able to make some of my favorite towel animals!

After I learned to make 'em we started recording me folding them step-by-step on video to show other fanatics like me how to do it. You can get my full collection of online how to make towel animal videos right here.

I've even posted a sample towel animal "how-to" video at the bottom of this page.

Check it out and enjoy!

Origami is the art of folding paper into various shapes...usually animals. It is a fine art in Japan and I believe China as well. Folding towels is an enity unto itself but since it's similar to the folding of paper, it is called "towel" origami.
