How Do You Download Songs Onto An iPod

 The development of iPod by Apple, Inc. has revolutionized the multimedia industry. No longer will an individual be restricted to play songs on a limited CD player, iPod can store tons of music, as long as its storage capacity can allow.

Get the application

One way to download the song over to an iPod is using your PC. The versions such as iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Video, and so on, needs to be hooked to your PC, with its own USB cable, so that you can transfer files into it.

To do that, an application called iTunes needs to be installed in your PC, and will be used to convert your audio and video files into something that your device can read. iTunes can also convert songs from CD or DVD into formats that is compatible with the iPod system.

Here are the steps on how to download songs from your PC to your iPod using iTunes

  1. Install iTunes 7.6 to your PC and run it.
  2. Plug in your iPod using its own USB cable to the PC and wait for it to be detected and synchronized with the application (the status bar is located on the top center of the iTunes window).
  3. When complete, your device name will be found on the left window of iTunes. Make sure it is clicked so that you can see all the songs inside.
  4. Drag the songs from its containing folder into the Playlist section of iTunes
  5. Click the "Synchronize" button on the top center, or beside your device label, to incorporate the additions into your iPod.

Convert and download videos over to your iPod

Some applications allow users to converts videos to formats that can be played by iPod versions with video capabilities. These converters are readily available on various sites on the Internet. You can use Google and Yahoo to search them out.

Applications like Videora can convert DVD videos into various formats for iPod Touch and iPod Videos like MP4, MOV, RM, and so on. Some applications can also grab streaming videos from YouTube and convert it into video files to be transferred over to your device.

Once you have converted the videos that you like, you can easily transfer them to your device in two ways:

  1. Use iTunes to copy the files over to your device, or
  2. Manually copy the files from your PC over to the appropriate folder in your device.
