How To Play Guitar For Beginners The Right Way

By CJ

Do you want to learn to play guitar? You may have been interested in learning this instrument for some time now but just didn't know if you could take on such an enduring task. In this post I will show you a few things to know in order to get started.

But first, let's put the guitar down and start from the beginning. If you want to learn how to play guitar for beginners there are a few things you need to know before you start plucking those strings.

How To Learn The Guitar In Different Formats

If you're just getting started you need look at learning guitar in a few different formats. The reason behind this is because for most people who get started in learning to play guitar they tend to learn the guitar on a more visual basis. What I mean is just using only what your eyes see.

The problem with this is it doesn't involve using any of your other senses to learn the music. By doing this you are only getting a third of the knowledge needed to help you understand what you are learning.

So what are the other senses?

•Visual. We've already gone through this one so I won't spend any more time on it.

•Kinesthetic. This is how things feel to you. For example if you are trying to learn a song and when you play it just doesn't feel right to you. I know this is tough to grasp because you can't literally touch a song. By using your sense of feeling you will be better to gauge how a song should be played.

•Hearing. Your listening skills are one of the most important skills you will posses. With good listening skills you will be able to know the difference between chords and notes.

Use All Of Your Senses To Learn The Guitar

So when you are in the process of learning the guitar it is very important you learn with all of these senses or how I like to say tools at your disposal. This way you don't become too reliant on one particular way.

If fact, I have a friend who has just started learning the guitar and he can visually tell me where the chords are on the guitar but he can't tell me what the name of the chords are or what they sound like if someone else played them. This is why it is important to incorporate all of your senses into playing the guitar.

So before you pick up your guitar take some time to listen to others. Listen to some of your favorite music and try and pick out the notes they are playing. This is a good way to sharpen your listening skills.

With any luck over time you will begin to start hearing and feeling the difference when you begin to learn the guitar. So if you want to learn how to play guitar like a pro follow your senses and they will guide you down the path of success.
