Here is a fact : According to an article from the "Scientific American", on average the levels of harmful chemical indoors are on average 3 to 5 times, but as much as 1000 times higher than levels outdoors, even in the most polluted areas of the country".

Nowadays, you and I are exposed to high level of harmful chemicals no matter where we are and what are our occupations. This is because most of the daily goods that we are using contain subtle amount of harmful chemicals which will yield insidious and harmful effect to our health in the long term.

How Can You Detox Your Body?

There many many detox methods circulating in the Internet claiming to help you to eliminate all the toxin from your body effortlessly. But WAIT! I'm not an advocacy of such things because I know that I should be responsible for my own health.

Personally, I think that you should start detoxing your body by changing your diet. Most of the toxin comes from the food we eat. Foods that are high in fat, cholesterol are categorised as acidifying food, and will affect our body pH.

Here is another fact : Many medical books state that in order to improve our health, it is vital for us to restore our body natural pH state - Alkaline state.

Therefore, taking an alkalizing diet will help to improve your health.

How Effective Is A Detox Diet?

When it comes to how to detox your body, we should seek it as a long term solution instead of merely a tedious work that you can forget it after few days.

Many detox diets claim to allow you to eliminate all the toxin from your body after 7-10 days. BUT, how effective are these diets in reality? I highly doubt so.

According to BodyDetoxSecret.com, a website that provides long term healthy solution to detoxification, it states that most of the detox diets will end up accelerating your toxic intake because your metabolism will fall after the diets. I strongly believe in this statement because it is generally known that starving yourself will result in low metabolism.

Actually, a detox diet that really provides long term health benefit will not lower your metabolism. Instead, it aims to improve your metabolism so that you will be able to eliminate toxin efficiently from your body even after you have stopped the detox diet.

For instance, the 7 days detox diet outlined in the BodyDetoxSecret.com, is a non-extreme diet that :

  • does not require you to starve yourself
  • ensure that you take in sufficient nutrients everyday
  • does not lower your metabolism during the diet
  • restore your body optimum pH level so that your organs can functions at their optimum level.
  • keep your metabolism high, and allow you to retain your optimum health over a longer period of time

Therefore, in conclusion, other than seeking detoxification as a short term solution, we should seek it as a long term commitment to our health. Often, it is just a subtle change in your diet today will result in a great result in the future.
