How To Increase Traffic To Your Hubpages!
81When I joined the HubPages long back, I didn't have any clue to how to bring people to read my articles. Slowly I learned how to do that by emailing friends and posting links in digg, reddit, and del.ico.us which was readily available at Hubpages then. But even then the traffic was so slow! I had only about a few hundred visitors in the first 5 weeks or so.
You can say that I was more than disappointed with that! Then I noticed a pattern emerging from the statistics for Hubs. Most of the traffic were coming from various google domains! Although there was a slight increase in traffic, still it wasn't much. Now I have nearly 3,000,000 visitors for all my published hubs. The lion's share of the visitors are from search engines. In fact I published one hub thanking all my fellow hubbers for making it possible.

It was then I discovered the potential of Social Boomarking. After some research I've found hundreds of sites offering bookmarking services for free! I decided to test a few sites. And my traffic improved considerably. I started bookmarking with more and more sites. Now I am in my 18th month at The Hubpages. And my statistics shows nearly 3,000,000 hits. I am really happy now, that my strategy regarding bringing visitors to The Hubpages is paying off, as my adsense account has also been doing well.
Social Bookmarking
You can multiply your traffic by bookmarking your blog to Social Bookmarking sites. Social Bookmarking websites are basically sites that categorize and store bookmark links. Millions of visitors flood these Social Bookmarking sites to search for information. So the idea of bookmarking is to post links back to your web page from these Social Bookmarking websites. You will specify some keywords or tags which categorize your bookmark.

A Word Of Caution!
Social Bookmarking is time consuming because you have to manually bookmark your sites. There are many softwares out there that will bookmark your pages automatically. They sound great but they are way overpriced. Some of these tools have ridiculous monthly fees. Most of them are spamming tools developed to destroy the Social Bookmarking sites. These spamming tools randomly generate account name and passwords at these Social Bookmarking sites and post hundreds of links at a single go.
So, even if its a little laborious and takes longer I will suggest that you do the bookmarking the manual way, its more rewarding. Moreover, if you go for Social Bookmarking Automation Softwares you run the risk of getting blacklisted.
Apart from these, I also post links in relevant forums and mail regularely to my friends who may be interested in reading the articles. Also tag your posts well!

Another process to enhance traffic that I have learned is to create backlinks to the page by posting the links to various online forums with high traffic.When we post our links in these forums in our signature, this doesn't just allow the traffic on that site to click on our links to check out ,but also improves our webpages rating on search engines.

Thank you for information, but I suggest that you don't risk your website if you have one, until you test these social bookmarking sites.
You can do the test by tracking some blogs or articals for some keywords (even if they are not popular), if you have good results you can do it for your website.
and this is to avoid the risk to be blacklisted by search engines because they find your link to a spammy directory

Question: How do I post the link to my hub, I mean what exactly is the URL that can direct someone to a particular hub I want them to read? And what are backlinks, how to create them? I am a beginner and absolute dummy in this field! So sorry to be a bother.

http://Onlywire.com allows you to bookmark to a bunch of these sites at once. It saves some time..not sure if they blacklist you for using them though...??
I've only tried a couple, but I find empty promises,
one site wants you to send them an e-mail for an invitation code and provides no e-mail address, another has you jump through hoops only to close down your computer. Have you actually tried any of these sites?
I think you can write a free ebook on how you got so many visitors to your site and distribute it to people like us who are searching for ways to make more money online.

And also, when we post signatures or comments in forums, blogs or discussion boards with their websites, most people think that it's always good for our search engine rankings which I say it's not.
Let's make sure that any place online where we post with our backlink should be related to our site that we're promoting otherwise it will just hurt us instead in the long run. And one more thing, to get our sites to rank with our different keyphrases, make sure to always optimize your blog posts or articles with that keyphrases and don't post in blogs or forums with the same keyphrase linking back to our website over and over again. It won't do your ranking any good at all.

What a great hub you’ve posted here SunSeven. You have done great statistics here. It is true we not only need quality content but also a high quantity of backlinks to our hubs. But all in all I can see from this hub that you are doing very well. From this hub you have a PR 3 compared to the PR 5 of mother page hubpages.com which is very good for this hub.
And if anyone out there is wondering how you get a high page ranking, then one has to refer to this hub of yours. This has not only got to do with the quality of the hubs, but there are other factors that are being considered not only here at hubpages but everywhere else in internet. many social bookmarking sites are definitely worthwhile and you can semi automate the process with various services. I use Social Marker http://www.bz9.com/socialmarker/ but there are others around.
I also make sure I use all the sites that offer revenue sharing as it further helps your Adsense income. The latest site, still unknown to many is Tagfoot which looks pretty promising and shares revenue with users http://tagfoot.com
