How to Install Ubuntu Linux

1. Check your desired flavour: 2. Do you come from Windows, have a moderately fast PC? Download Kubuntu. 3. Do you come from Mac? Want to try something different or want what the majority uses? Go for the default Ubuntu. 4. Do you have an older PC? Go for Xubuntu 5. Do you have younger children or own a school? Use Edubuntu

Now we have that done, let's start off deciding if you need the text installer or not

1. Do you have 256MB RAM or more? Go for the graphical installer 2. Do you have less than 128MB RAM? Go for the Alternate CD 3. Boot up, if you still boot into your OS head into your BIOS or Boot menu (F12 for Acer laptops, usually Del for most PCs) 4. The LiveCD will now load, this is a full Ubuntu installation running on your RAM, it hasn't changed your Hard Drive at all 5. If you want to read more about Ubuntu, click on Examples and have a look at some of the files, if not, jump straight onto Install 6. Fill in your personal data, don't worry, this is only used to help configure your system, pick everything for your region 7. Now we're on the Partitioner, for now we're assuming you want rid of Mac/Windows 8. Click Guided - Erase entire disk... 9. If you have a compatible OS, you can migrate files and settings from it to your new Ubuntu install (7.04 up) 10. Confirm you got everything right (did you?), if not go back and fill it in again 11. Ubuntu will now install, enjoy
