When I apply the band to the hemostat I make only 3 wraps. You may wish to make one less wrap. I wrap the band as near to the tip of the hemostat as possible.

Taking a small piece of hair, near the middle of the hair length, put the hemostat on the hair and close the hemostat. I push the hemostat towards the hair so there is no tension on the strand. Taking my finger and thumb I push the band from the hemostat.

The hair forms a tiny loop at the end. I don't feed the hair through like a pony tail but try to form a small loop.

Did this help?

Jennifer,

I've seen the bows made with bandana material and other materials. I've not tried these types of bows, myself. I have not viewed the video but there is a Youtube.com video about "button bows" that will show you how to make them or have the link to the site.
