How To Write A Hub

Introduction

I'm not going to tell you how to write a hub on hubpages. I'm going to demonstrate it. For the record, I was wracking my brains, trying to come up with something at which I'm supposed to be an expert, but nothing came out. After a couple of tries of writing How To...., I tried a different tack. What am I doing now? Whatever I'm doing, I had to be good at it. That's why I'm doing it, right? I'm writing a hub on Hubpages! I have a hub! How to write a hub. There you have it, I completed Part I of the hub - Which is the introductory text.

Next comes the obligatory image, which means that you have to head for Google image search or Flickr.com, get hold of a copyright free image, which incidentally must be related to the subject of your hub. This task, simply out, is even worse than thinking of a subject for a hub. There are no free images - Even Creative Commons licensed images usually require you to link to the image. Who in his right mind is going to give away the image without anything in return? but that's what you have to do, so off I go to Google. I'll see you, if and when I find a copyright free image related to writing hubs....

Respect Image Copyrights

Main Text

Ok, so I copped out on the image. I tried, but there just is no free image, which can be used without attribution for a commercial site. So I made my own image. Granted it's shabby, but the point was to get the message across that when you're creating a hub on hubpages, and you want to upload an image, make sure you don't infringe copyrights.

This body of text is the main part of your hub. Meaning that this is the real meat. The things above and below are just the gravy. What you write here will decide if your hub is a dud or a hit. Be precise, don't wander off the topic and include hyperlinks where relevant or necessary. You can't explain everything yourself, and others have done the explaining much better than you possibly can. For example, if you are explaining how to use phpmyadmin, you don't explain to the reader how to become a mysql and php programmer. You simply tell the reader everything about phpmyadmin, ( image here ),it's usefulness, how to use phpmyadmin, ( video here )and point to a link where the reader can learn more about mysql and php

That wraps up the main text part of this hub. Hey, where do you think you're going? There's a video below this, and then some very interesting links to web pages which are related to the subject of this hub. Now how do you find a video ( luckily no copyright problems here - Youtube and Google Video have a very linient view of allowed use ) which is related to writing hubs? Back to Google.....

Orhan Pamuk - Nobel Prize winner

Summary

After the video comes your summary. I'll quote the guy in the video. He's the latest Nobel Prize winner for Literature - Orhan Pamuk. Why did I select his video? Pamuk says he writes because he loves the process of writing, the joy he gets while writing. And he loves it much more than the fame or money or satisfaction he gets when his writing is appreciated. I feel the same now. I really enjoyed writing this hub, and I don't care a darn if no one except my dog and me ever see this hub.

And that's how you write a hub.

Glad you like it. As for how to start a hub, you log in and click 'start a new hub' from the home page. You can find more details here http://hubpages.com/faq/

BTW, I see from your profile you have a pretty busy life. Good luck with the book, if you're planning to write one.

This was very informative. I love your picture. (chuckle) I signed up here awhile back, created one hub and then got bogged down with my work. Now I am back to see what I can do. I have one question though. Can you not use the free photos provided by microsoft on their site? If you can find something related to your topic. I was told they were free to use anyway you wanted. Maybe I am wrong?!

But thanks for the help!

One more thing you should know about writing, whether it is a hub or an article or a comment - People can tell when you're being sincere, or not. The written word is powerful when it speaks the truth, and it can be equally damning, if you think you can pull a fast one.
