____________________
Using this template you can keep in mind, as you write your content, what you are going to need for a title, subtitle, a URL, how to start your first paragraph, the type of advertising your article may relate to or not, the tags or related categories, the ads, media (photos or video) and related sites.
Title:
The hardest thing may be to create a proper title. Try to think of a title that people are likely to type into a search engine. The title is a (generality). Search for the subject of your article yourself as if you were 'searchQpublic', with no idea your article existed. Might consider search specific engines like tech engines. Put your ideas on the template title section. (http://hubpages.com/How_To_Template) The underline ( _ ) separates the words in search engines and does not show. Can also use ( - ).
Subtitle:
The subtitle is a (particular) which should more specifically define the content of the more general title. The title and subtitle should work together. (http://hubpages.com/hub/How_To_Template__Specific_to_Hubpages) The double ( __ ) underline separates the two. Also the ( : ) ( | ) and ( - ) are used. Sometimes the ( - ) shows and sometimes not. Why the difference I do not know. Single-line title and subtitle should be kept to a maximum 60 character spaces with each consisting of 30 and 30 more or less.
URL:
This is a killer. Hubpages provides a unique or individual URL. http://hubpages.com/hub/Nearly_All_You_Want_If_It_Is_Not_Taken. This is sheer genius and may be the key to Web 3.0 or the Holy Grail, defined as anybody can find your page. You can put both the title and subtitle into your unique HubpagesURL: http://hubpages.com/hub/Got_Milk:__Flavor_Your_Milk_With_Honey | Think how this will look on a search engine. Might keep in mind that a long URL is difficult to copy into a browser address window.
Choosing your unique URL is jumping into the dark. Once chosen, you cannot take it back and you are stuck with it. And you don't know how it is going to show up on 'Big Search'. One could throw away a great page with a bad URL. However there may evolve a problem, where all the good URLs are taken, many by less than sparkling pages. Seems they are going to need to devise a system, perhaps based on their already existing scoring logarithm, for deleting and recirculating unique URLs; two scoring systems one non-commercial and one for profit.
The money paying customers need to come from outside Hubpages, most of which would be and is driven by Big Search, when not driven there by the individual's own advertising efforts. This would necessitate a good Search Placement. One can use 'most searched keywords', but this means one has to write strictly to mass appeal. The best ranking is what people will type into search. High ranking on Big Search when belonging to an organization like Hubpages, depends on the popularity of the organization. The more visitors to the organization the higher the ranking for the individual.
First page Google is not a panacea. I have first page googles that never get any hits, because the subject is not something anyone ever searches for.

First Paragraph:
The beginning of your first paragraph may be shown on the big search engines like Google, and serves as a descriptive blurb for the searcher to ascertain the relevance of the article to what they are looking for. One can also Not create a subtitle as described above, but use the first paragraph as a subtitle. For example "This is a template for writing HubPage articles, to clarify things like:..". It should tell the reader this is what I want. It is said that a maximum 155 character spaces are allowed in the description, where you then see the trail off.... One might consider beginning one's article considering those first 155 characters. Also it is said that often the description may be more important than the title.
Search engine descriptions are sometimes a mystery to me. Sometimes the description cannot be found included in its page. Don't know where it comes from. Sometimes it found in the middle of the page. It is said not to use quotation marks in your search engine description or first paragraph, as this ends what is displayed at that point.
Content:
The concept of Hubpages is to write and get paid for it. One assumes that one can write about anything, less porno. The content will depend upon one's emphasis: whether writing for money or writing for yourself and others. Or it can be some combination of the two.
The HubPages publishing format uses 'Capsules' that are individual boxes for text, photo, video and ads. In the top right hand corner of your HubPage select one or more of the relevant capsules, one at a time, which will be added below. Order your capsules (drag & drop) like photo, text, photo, text, ad, text and Click Reorder Now.
When writing your article offline, you can order your capsules by notations as you write. Have to stagger text capsules with photo, video and ad capsules, like photo capsule, text capsule (some number of paragraphs), ad capsule, text capsule (some number of paragraphs), photo capsule and so on. Write your article off-line.
For instance to organize a photo capsule at top of page and right of first para text, then a text capsule, ad capsule, text capsule, photo capsule: Photo Capsule: Be thinking of a photo and if one finds one, copy it to your Template Folder. Copy a Properties identification of the photo into your template as shown above and give it a name. It will be all ready to go when you publish. Identity: 00007927_f0000defb7 Title: Template.
To get a photo say on the right of text, place these capsules on top of text capsule, photo full, half or quarter size.
Text Capsule: Any number of paragraphs, and think of where you want photo or ads on right of text. something capsule text capsule text. Ad Capsule: Where you want ads to appear on the right side of text.
Text capsule: "
Photo capsule: aaaa7927_fbbbbdefb7 Title: Whatever
Linking: can be a problem. You can put your links in your on-line text for handy reference such as: http://www.google.com/ However you do not use this in HubPages. You have to use their link creator. You use a link word in your text like 'go here'. Highlight it and that will activate edit buttons like bold in your editing tool bar. Find and click the link creator and a small window will come up. Enter your url: http://.... and select same or separate page. Do not enter anything in the title box. This should create a link.
A way to work at one's leisure is to start a hub, 'My Accounts', 'Start A New Hub', 'Choose a Title', 'Give Your Hub A Web Address', 'Add Some Tags', Continue. On edit page, you start with some ordering of capsules, maybe put in a first paragraph - and then you can save 'Unpublished'. This unpublished page is found in 'My Account', 'Hub Traffic Statistics'. This unpublished hub is listed at the bottom in red, and you can continue to edit that hub, at any time of one's convenience, without being listed on the search engines or published in HubPages. To save without listing or publishing, and come back at a later time to continue editing, click 'Done Editing'. When you are ready to publish the finished product, click 'Publish Now' and it will list and publish.
In case you need to do a hub all over, it might be wise to save all original hub files in a 'published folder' in the Templates folder. Save all published photos, in say a published photo folder. And one might also save all link addresses and photo identity numbers, in the locations where they are placed in the original text or each hub file. To make it easier one can use two browsers, and copy the text from the on-line hub to be replaced, and paste it into the new, edit text box. lt will copy perfectly without all the alignment of exact end spacing normally required.
Published and unpublished hubs can be deleted. However search engine listings and accordant URLs cannot. All browsers do not work for creating hubs. Also browser 'tabs' might be a problem if one confuses them.
Personally I use Opera because I don't like tabs at all, and just use the bookmarks tool bar.

Tags:
A tag seems to be hubpages that contain similar articles or relevant to the same subject matter. So if someone clicks on a Tag like Health, Food, Cooking one will be directed to pages containing articles germane to these subjects. It is a bit like StumbleUpon, where you are not sure what you might find. However you might find good stuff you are not looking for, but not your own article you created tags for. The tags may be used by 'Big Search' to find and categorize your articles. Don't know, they say it does, but not knowing how it works, can have no opinion.
AdSense, Amazon, eBay and Affiliated ads:
Consider whether one should place advertisement related material into the content of the article. The alleged reader bots will be looking for it in order to place ads on your page. This material means: references to books, movies, TV, star personalities, sports, music or whatever. Remember that AdSense relates to products, Amazon relates to books and eBay may relate to anything. May put any ideas you get in this section and try to work them into the article.
Amazon: Edit Amazon capsule: Think Books and products. If your title or URL doesn't get any Amazon results, 'No Results Found', edit Amazon Capsule Keyword Search. Select a product area. Put in one keyword then Click preview Amazon Results. If nothing happens it is not using your keyword, as inexplicable as that is. Try other words until you get a number of books listed below. The keyword that works is not always apropos to your page. To get it more applicable, try a second search word and see if that produces something more relevant. You can theoretically select individual books and products by using the ASIN ID number found in Amazon products URL. However beats me, I can't find it.
eBay: Same process as Amazon.
Non-commercial: External and internal your own and other HubPages, related links and footnotes.
Media:
Be thinking of media for your page as you are writing your article. Its not necessary but may help. Put a media source(s) on your browser (bookmarks tool bar) or desktop for quick access to photos or videos. You could start by searching for media, apropos to the subject matter of your article. Make sure you use 'Creative Commons' media meaning free from copyright protection, as you may be penalized for using copyrighted images. Download your images to desktop, where you will have immediate access to them. You might also run a virus scan on them just to be safe. Some media sites are: everystockphoto.com, flickr.com or Utube Broadcast Yourself and Google Video.
