One of the most popular questions about Google Adsense is 'How does it work?' Many users of hubpages are making money with Google Adsense but do they really know how it works? I guess some do and the others probably don't care. As long as they are making some money, right?

Adsense is one of Google's advertising programs. Another one of Google's advertising programs is Adwords which is the source of the ads used for the Adsense program. Adwords users would pay money to run these ads so that they themselves can generate money by sending people to their websites.

Website owners known as publishers can sign up with Google Adsense free of cost and get to place these ads on their websites. When an ad is clicked on, Google will pay the publisher about half of what the Adwords advertiser is paying to run the ad. Google gets the other half.

Why Google Adsense Works.

Google Adsense works because of relevance. The ads that Google shows on a website is relevant to the website's content. This ensures that more clicks come from the website's audience. For example, you have a website or page about 'plasma television sets'. The ads that Google will place on your page would be about 'plasma television sets' or something that matches very closely. Of course, your visitor will be interested in these ads and click, earning you and your website a few pennies and sometimes up to a few dollars.

This is known as Google Adsense for content and Google will pay for each click. Google will also pay 'per-thousand-impressions' (CPM). This is particularly useful if your site has lots of visitors. It means that every thousand unique visits your site gets as long as it has Adsense ads on it you will get paid.

Getting the Most Out Of Google Adsense.

So how do you make more money with Google Adsense?

  • Adsense Blocks - The better the adsense ads blend in with your page theme the more natural it would look and the more clicks they would get since people wont see them as ads but rather a part of your page.
  • More Traffic - The more visitors you get the more clicks you are likely to get. Always stive to write quality content that people would want to read and use keywords in the title of your pages so that they would get higher in the search engines where more people will see your site or page.
  • Do Not Click - Don't be tempted to click on your own ads. Google will ban your account if they find out. How will they find out? Trust me, they will.

Do you have to have a website to earn money with Google Adsense? Nope. Its one of the benefits of being a member of Hubpages. Hubpages allows you to make money by sharing its adsense revenue with you that you generate from your hubs. All you have to do is sign up for an Adsense account and edit your account information to include your adsense id. Then just create hubs with good quality information and you will get paid.

People should also concentrate on the high paying niches like mortgage, credit card loans insurance etc. These niches have high payouts and large corporate advertisers with big ad budgets. This inturn mens higher adsense payouts to publishers.

Actually, I don't think they should. I think people should write about what they're comfortable writing about instead of doing 'made for adsense' models. Also implement other affiliate products to increase earnings and you should do well. Google doesn't like MFA sites anymore anyway.

In order to suceed at adsense you also need the right layout and targeted traffic. Traffic is easy to get with article marketing. A good template should give you a CTR of at least 10% minimum

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO.

I REQUEST YOU TO CONSIDER MY PROBLEM KINDLY AND ASSIST ME IF YOU FIND IT RIGHT.

BEFORE SIGNING UP TO Hubpages.com I HAVE SIGNED UP IN GOOGLE ADSENSE. I HAVE BUILD UP THIRTEEN CONTENTS THERE AND HAVE ENGAGED MYSELF IN EDITING THEM TIME TO TIME WITH THE RESULT THAT I HAVE EARNED ONLY $4.34. THERE ARE DEFINITELY REASONS FOR THE POOR PERSORMANCE. I HAVE NOT WORKED FOR THE ADWORDS ONE AS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I SHOULD DO. PLEASE TAKE IT AS A FACT THAT I CAN WORK HARD AND THAT I WANT TO EARN GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY ONLY FOR MY SON'S EDUCATION AND THAT I CANNOT DO ANYTHING SAVE SUCH LITTLE WRITING.

I AM NOT SURE IF WITH SUCH POOR ABILITY I SHALL BE ABLE TO EARN OR NOT. I LOVE TO WRITE ON THE INDIAN EPICS, ON THE STATUS OF THE CHILDREN AND ON SUBJECTS LIKE EDUCATION, SOCIOLOGY AND HUMAN RELATIONS. A FEW POEMS I HAVE ALREADY POSTED IN THE Hubpages.com AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IF READERS LIKE THOSE OR NOT. I DO NOT ALSO KNOW HOW I SHALL BE PAID IN THE Hubpages.com IF I AM FOUND WORTHY.

I SHALL BE GRATEFUL IF I AM KINDLY HELPED.

I hope you're not publishing your content in all caps. Online thats like shouting. How about trying to write one hub a day. Do some keyword research like on this page (http://hubpages.com/hub/Finding-High-Paying-Adsens and answer some of the hub requests (http://hubpages.com/requests/latest/). After a while it should add up well. Try to learn more about how to create quality hubs with images and how to format content so that it looks great.

Also try being a part of the hubpages community by participating in the forum and commenting on other peoples hubs.

Good content, I'm still a beginner...am using AdSense and it had me sign up for the Adsence/youtube video thing(gives videos relevent yo your page). So I make the video player selection...copy the ebed code, put it in the video player at my Hub and it says" unsesified URL or something like that...I know it takes single videos from youtube...but how can I make this multiple Adsence/Youtube thing work?

Caro  says:

Nice guide! I'm starting to use Adsence, and I may have clicked on the ad once by accident. I sure didn't know they could ban you for it! :(

kpfingaz profile image

kpfingaz  says:

Yeah, Caro be careful. Read the rules/terms and conditions so you know what to do and what not to do. Getting banned is an all too common scenario for a lot of people who don't know the rules of Google Adsense.

If your aim is to try to make money with adsense with hubpage, you have quite of bit of work to do to make it worth yourwhile.

Personally, I make my pages with the intention to pu tout value and give awesome content, the adsense clicks are nothing more than a bonus to me.

If your not seeing your revenue show up if your saying that people click on your ads, you need to contact google directly...or maybe your code isn't set up correctly?

According to me. Place of ads on page and color theme really matters a lot. Some time accidently people click on ads and you get money but never creat spam. and never click your own ads.

mj  says:

The best way to put your ads is to make sure your ads match the color of your content so that it would look natural to your website.

This is a very useful hub, thank you, which explains in simple terms the concept of Google Adsense. I signed up for Adsense when I posted my first hub two months ago, and since then have published fifteen hubs and received around seven hundred hits. However, I have not earned one single penny from Adsense. Any idea why that would be? Surely at least one of those seven hundred visitors must have clicked on at least one advert? Google don't seem to want to communicate with me. I am losing heart, and thinking about dropping out of HubPages altogether.
