How to Find Investors and Meet Venture Capitalist

I found three successful ways to get introductions to Venture Capitalists.

Introductions from people you know. If you know a venture capitalist, send them a note. If you know people that know them, ask them to introduce you. I had several meetings this way, but it wasn't nearly as successful, despite what I was told, as the other two.

Introductions from your counsel. We used the law firm Orrick. After they had agreed to represent us, they provided over ten recommendations to great firms. The partner introduced us through email and most people responded to us quickly and setup meetings.

Cold emails. I sent two unsolicited or cold emails. Each time I got a meeting and ultimately we were funded by Hummer Winblad; I met them through Will Price's blog. I was just reading his blog one evening in bed and thought, I should talk with these guys. The rest, as they say, is history.

Paul James and I are going to take venture capitalism by the reigns. Great advice.
