You have to bring a dish to a brunch or cookout...What do You Bring?

Relax, most people fret about what to bring. The great thing about this recipe is that it is considered an appetizer or it can be consiered a cocktail! It's easy, fabulous and very original. People will be talking about your dish for parties to come!

So what is this fabulous and original cocktail/appetizer? Here ya go:

Bloody Mary on a Stick!

To prepare this dish properly, you should really prepare it the night before. But, this is the type of dish that takes so little effort, you will feel guilty that you didn't spend more time on it.

Ingredients Needed

Select whatever tomato you prefer for appetizers such as cherry, grape or some other type of miniature tomato. I find that cherry works best, but it is all about your taste. I would buy enough cherry tomatoes to provide everyone with at least 4 per person.

The next ingredient you will need is a premium vodka. Now is not the time to skimp on liquor! I personally prefer Absolut Vodka because it tastes very smooth to me. Again, you can try whatever vodka you like, as long as it tastes good to you. If you are not a vodka connisuer, the following brands are quality vodkas:

Grey Goose, Chopin, or Absolut. I'm sure there are quite a few vodkas that are available that are just as good if not better than the ones that I mentioned. DO NOT skimp on a cheap vodka....believe me, you will know it when you taste the finished product. I would say a fifth of vodka would do nicely.

The next ingredient is kosher salt. No other imitation will do, for example Mortons won't take care of the job.

Other items Needed:

1 large pyrex dish

1 box of toothpicks (or 2 depending on the number of people)

Instructions

Wash your cherry tomatoes and pat dry them with a clean paper towel or cloth. Take a toothpick and poke it into the tomato so that it looks like a miniature sucker. You may want to poke your toothpick into the tomato a couple of times before leaving it in. Once you have completed this step, retrieve your pyrex dish.

Place your cherry tomatoes in the pyrex dish. Take your premium vodka and pour enough vodka in the dish to cover the tomatoes completely.

Place tin foil loosely over the dish and place overnight into your refridgerator. The next day, about 2 hours before the party, remove the pyrex dish and place your tomatoes on tin foil. Take the kosher salt and pour into a dish and take your tomatoes on a stick and roll the tomato in the salt to cover it.

Once this is complete, place in a fresh pyrex dish. Continue rolling the tomatoes on a stick until they are covered with the salt and place in dish. Place back into the refridgerator to set. When you are ready to leave for the party, take the tomatoes out of the refridgerator and if any of them need another coat of salt, roll them again.

You may want to do the salt coating process when you get to the party. People will be delighted when they see your dish. It's light, potent and refreshing that is for sure.

So next time you are searching for the perfect, easy and unique dish to bring to a cookout, brunch or dinner with friends, try "Bloody Mary on a Stick"! You'll be the hit of the party, I promise!
