Find some of my Art Work on products such as: T-shirts, Mousepads, Caps, Mugs, Bags and more.
To view my website goes to: http://www.inkmyskull.com
This is a basic explanation of what I did to create my online store.
1- Create a Product/Item or Service to sell online. Mine are Bookmarks used as Event invitations, Thank you Notes, Announcements and Just because. But because I couldn't display or place the drawings the way I like I change to a bigger selection of items such as: T-shirts, hats, Mousepads, Bags, Cups, and more.
2- Search the internet for an All in One Website Builder. (I use cafepress.com).
Some Website Builders will offer you more than one option for your monthly services with them. I use the basic for only $7 a month. Include Website Builder, Hosting, and Free Domain Name. Later, I purchased my own Domain Name, www.inkmyskull.com with yahoo. It costed me only $10 yearly.
For example my first Free Domain was: http://www.vnaart.citymax.com/
3- To be able to collect money through your website you will need a merchant account. If you already have one with your local bank, you can use it. You can use Paypal, if you don't. Go to http://www.paypal.com/ for more information. Paypal is cheaper than a bank merchant account. After signing up for a merchant account go to the website builder of your choice and follow the step to create each webpage of your online store. (If catalog driven). With my website on cafepress.com I don't need a merchant account because day mail me a check.
4- After building your website go to different search engines to list it. Such as: Google, Yahoo. MSN, Ask.com, Lycos.com, Windows Live Search, etc... After doing this verify if your website is listed by writing your website address on the search bar of each search engine.
5- After all these steps you are pretty done. Just need to remember the most important key to success, promote your website. (I use Google Adwords) You can also give some business card to your friend to help you spread the word. Flyers on boletinboards and more.
Note: You will find more detailed information with the Website Builder of your choice. They usually have a Database where you can find answer to your questions. I have tried a few and for the items I want to sell, cafepress.com have offer me the best services. Of course you should pick the one that best work for you.
