The best ways to ask a girl to a school dance

High school's hard enough without the potential for rejection that comes with asking a girl to a school dance, unless if you're dating her (although even that may not be a safeguard).
You can't guarantee that the girl is going to say "yes." There are too many factors... she may have a previous engagement, she may be going with someone else, or she may just plain not like you.
For that reason, you can go ahead and get creative in asking a girl. What do you have to lose? There are other girls too, after all. So you might as well have a little fun in the process.
Below are some ideas that I've come up with and that I've heard were used in the past that I am offering based on my preferences as a girl asked to dances and also on how they have fared in practice. And some I found on the net :D
Just make sure no matter what the answer is that you don't get discouraged. I'd suggest if you're really crazy about this girl... don't use these :S
School dance where people are hardly dancing
1st Method: The Puzzle
This involves artistic skill and time.
1. Make a really pretty invitation/plea.
Get construction paper, make shapes, use glue and glitter and other pretty things (but don't make it too girly or anything, unless that's what you think she'd like). Make it look really nice and use nice messages; use her name and be generic otherwise. Don't forget to sign your name too or she won't know who you are!
2. Cut it up into puzzle pieces.
End up with as many pieces as you have locations for them. Which brings me to step 3.
3. Put each in an envelope with her name on it and with a clue inside each.
Make the first envelope easy for her to find, like have someone else give it to her. In that first one put a clue as to where the next one will be, and so on.
4. Hide each piece.
Somewhere she goes often and/or somewhere new. Eventually she'll end up with all the pieces, hopefully, and you'll get your answer in no time.
PS: You can be even sweeter and put yourself in the location of the last piece and hand it to her.
2nd Method: The String
This one is adorable and fun and I would so fall for it.
1. Get a long long string.
Easy enough.
2. Write messages.
Write things like, "Just stringing you along" and "You're almost there" to tape along the string. Or you can write out a long message and the question of asking her to the dance and cut out each word to tape along the string.
3. Set up the string.
Start at her house or her work or wherever and make it lead to where you think she needs to be next, such as from home to work or to school. Or you can make it lead to you and you can ask her yourself.
3rd Method: The Shirt
I really like this one! It's so creative! And I didn't come up with it :(
1. Get the shirt and write on the front.
Write in permanent marker, "Will you go to the dance with me?" Also write, "Wash this shirt and look on the back to find out who asked you to the dance."
2. Now write on the back.
Write a bunch of random girls' names (try not those of anyone you think might like your girl or whom your girl might like...) in washable marker.
Then put your name in permanent marker!
She'll wash the shirt and your name will be the only one left :)
Other ways to ask a girl to a dance
- Dress up in a gorilla suit, get a bunch of bananas, and go find her somewhere public and say, "I'll go bananas if you don't go to the dance with me!"
- Get a bunch of keys and put them in a bucket. Take one and colour it and stick it in the middle. Put a note with it saying "Find the key to my heart" and with your address on it. She'll go to your house and you can ask her there.
- Be cheesy and take chocolate Kisses and make a trail from one place to another where she usually goes. At the beginning leave a note telling her to follow it, and at the end leave a note saying, "Now that I've kissed the ground you walk on, will you go to the dance with me?"
- Have someone trace the outline of your body on the sidewalk in front of her house and leave a note looking like a police report that somehow asks if she will go to the dance with you.
- Get a fishbowl with a bunch of fish in it; the little guppie fish are good because you can get a lot of those without them eating each other. Then leave it at her house or her desk or something with a note saying, "Of all the fish in the sea, I choose you to go to the dance with me."

My sister got asked in a really cute way. Her boyfriend some how managed to freeze the top or a rose in a heart shaped block of ice and left it on our doorstep with a note. I don't really remember what the note said though...sorry! but it was so cute!

My friends brother Josh had a great way to ask: during one of the periods, i think later in the day, he had another student that was working in the office deliver a big chunk of ice on a tarp to the girl he wanted to go to prom with. He gave her a chisel and gave the instructions to get the note out from the middle. So she broke the block of ice little by little and the note said "will you go to prom with me" and when she got to the center, Josh walked in and asked for a reply.

mmmm...i'm a shy guy....
So this one worked for me last year.... i went to her house when she was away for a few hours. I brought the biggest rock my friend and i could possibly carry and painted "no" on it and placed it on her driveway where she could see it. I then got a small hand sized rock and painted "yes" on it and also left that next to the huge rock in her drive way. Along with the two rocks i left a large bouquet of flowers with a note reading "you+me=Prom? bring me your answer" luckly later that day she brought me the smaller "yes" rock and life was good! BIGGS

ok so you have to have a little cooking skills but it isnt that hard. go to the store and get five 8 1/2 in to 9 in round cake pans.(they all have to be the same size). make all 5 cakes. On the top of the first cake write ";(with me)"; then put another cake on top of that and write "the name of the dance or event"; then put another cake layer on top of that and write ";go to"; put another layer on that and put ";will you"; and then put the top layer on that so he/she cant see it. you are making a 5 layer cake. write on the very top of that cake ";sometimes, you go to take life, 1 layer at a time, love (your name)";.........the last part you might need some help if you cant get into her house. give the cake to a family member or friend that can bring it over to her house. put the cake in a grocery bag and tell your delever that you just got this really cute cake from the store.
im going to try this. so wish me luck. :)

My daughter was asked to her first dance last year. It was a 5th grade dance. It was a boy she had been friends with since kindergarten. He didn't do anything as creative as what is on this hub and my daughter told him she would have to think about it! Maybe next time he should hand her a ball of string! :)

Go buy some glow-in-the-dark stars. Write you question out on his bedroom ceiling so when he turns off the lights to go to bed – it’ll be written in the stars. (if you want a romantic twist - "you're the light of my life, will you go with me to..." "You're my star, will you go with me to...")
Sprinkle water over a fourtune cookie and put it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. open the cookie up, and add your own fortune. "sadies w/rae?" something like that. (also a fun way to answer. get a bag of fortune cookies and put papers in all of them saying things like "the answer isn't here" "keep looking" "don't give up!" "it's the next one" "if you stare long enough, maybe an answer will materialize!")
Find lots of random things like little rocks, peices of candy, rope, flowers, etc. and position them to look like letters. make each letter from something different. take a picture of each letter individually. put the pictures together on a posterboard to spell out yout inquiry.
Go get a stuffed frog, put a crown on it, and have him holding a card "I've looked at every frog in the lake - and you're the prince that i want to take!! Will you go to _______ dance with me?"
Leave a trail of hershey's kisses leading from their front door to the bathroom. hang a boquet of roses from the shower head, with a sign "Now that i've kissed the ground you walk on, and showered you with roses, will you go to ____ dance with me?"
Leave them clues in various places, one leading to the next, at each place have an item for them to pick up along with thier next clue. (items could be a light bulb with a note "I've got a bright idea!" a pack of red pens "so mark [day of date] as a red-letter day." toy army men "don't fight it" a balloon "we'll have a blast!) (make sure to leave a clue leading to your next destination too though.) lead them to a park or somewhere with a large tree or pole. get a friend to tie you up to the pole/tree and pin a sign on you that says "i've been tied up, as you can see, go to (dance), to set me free." or "my hopes for (dance) are tied up for you." or "Tie me up, Set me free, Either will work if you come to (dance) with me!" (the last one you may want to exersize caution with...)

Im going to ask a special girl to my homecoming dance. She plans on attending a volleyball game at school. i plan on having 3 of my friends deliver flowers to her at three different times. The first flowers delivered will have a note attached saying "will you....". The second set of flowers will say "be my...". The third set of flowers will say "homecoming date?" Then I will appear with a huge bouquet of flowers wearing a shirt that says "heart tyler" (WISH ME LUCK!)

Me and my friend are total music junkies, but he always likes going through the pictures on my mp3 player... So I had an awesome idea one day and decided I'd make picture on my computer and put them on there. They were stick figures, each holding a sign with one word on it... it went... Jack... will... you ... go... to ... harvest.... dance.... w/ me? and then the classic but cheesy Check... yes... or.... no... The next day he put a picture on my mp3 that said YES!!

I have these ideas on this Hub, but I think what you need is to think of what you both have in common and what he would most positively respond to.

It's really fun to put paper inside blue and yellow balloons and then stick in your question in all of the yellow ones. have a poster next to it that says something along the lines of returning the blue balloon to you if the answer is yes and a yellow one for no.... make sure that all of the yellow ones are gone. : )

Damn wish I would have read this before I was out of high school could have been handy. I don't go to too many dances these days, its not like you ask a friend thats a girl if she'll go to a club with you and dance, not the same I'm afraid.

I used the shirt idea to ask a girl out once, she loved it, was like 2 years ago and she's gone out with a few ppl since then and she still keeps the shirt. =) But all mine said was "(girls name) will you go out with me" and i had it under a collared shirt and when i saw her i said. "hey i gotta ask you a serious question" and i stood up and lifted up the shirt and said will you go out with me. =]
Just be a man and tell her who she's going with. Don't ask. It makes you look weak. Be assertive.

these are really great tips. next time i ask a girl to a dance should be better. i tried doing a funny note on her car but i got nervous and pooped my pants when she asked me about it.
Fill up a bunch of water baloons and put various pieces of you asking (permanent marker on an old cloth, or something else water proof) inside each of them. This way she has to pop a bunch of water balloons to find out who's asking.
Put your answer in a big thing of butter and leave it at her doorstep.
Get a bowl of water with a small boat at the top, with a message saying something like, "it would float my boat if you'd go to _______ with me.

I got asked to prom one year where my guy put up big bright unmistakable signs that led from my house to the school. Each sign had a different word saying "Nicole".... "Will"... "you"...." go".... "to".. and then the sign with "prom" was right outside the entrance of the school. The sign with "with" was right outside the parking lot and he was sitting in a lawn chair inmy parking spot with the last sign that said "me?" on it. It was the cutest thing ever and a crowd of people were huddled around my parking spot to watch!
I asked my gf to prom the other day and this is how i did it:
got a bunch of fake poop (ones you get at the stores for pranks) and threw them at her when she came out of her house. She freaked out but then she realized. than on my shirt it read: "It would be the shit if you went to prom with me."
it worked well.
im in theater and im planning on having the light technician to go to blackout put a spotlight on me and go over to girl and give her the invite. should work

Some ideas that i have had are too...
1. is to get a rose a violet and a packet of sugar (preferably from your favorite restuarant/her favorite) then have a note saying roses are red violets are blue sugar is sweet and so are you(classic saying). then skip a couple lines on the paper and say "will you be mine this homecoming" ** if you cannot find a violet get a blue sheet of paper and say roses are red this paper is blue sugar is sweet...."
2. This is another for homecoming preferably. You first ask from one of their parents to get a spare key of theirs. Also you need streamers (the schools colors) and car markers and a blank cd with "check yes juliet on it" And then get to their car before school ends (use an excuse like a doctor or something to the office). So then on the front of their car you make three check boxes. one saying yes! another saying no and another maybe. Leave a marker so they can get it and respond.(be within range to see their answer. when they answer send a text or some type of communication saying you were glad about there answer) Then you put the streamers all over the car and inside. Then lastly you stick the cd in their car and make it so that it is blasting when they start the car up.
This could be for any dance i think.(but you have to be in the almost dating stages) you first have to talk to her about it and be like lets hang out this... and i'll ask you then. be very open about it. but then be like.... if i dont ask you then i changed my mind. so you hang out with her that day. don't bring it up at all the whole time. beforehand though you have to put a note on her window(assuming she is on the top floor. she has to be for this to work) it should say something like "will you go to (insert dance here) with me?" then let her go home and have it so her mom distracts her before going to her room. then while she is talking to her mom send her a text saying "check your window" in curiosity she should head straight up to her room and look at your note. (also on the note add something about now look outside.) then be standing outside looking at her window waiting with a boquet of roses.

The shirt idea is pretty legit...i think though you should put in the front " will you go to the dance" or watever.. then on the back write you own poem or something in washable marker.. put the letters of your name in permanent marker throughout the poem but have them a little separate from each other...and at the end of the poem say wash this shirt and put the letters together :D totally getting some after that..
I got asked to homecoming in a really cute way.
around the outside of my house were huge balloons taped everywhere and a big poster that said "pop the question!" i popped all the balloons and inside were a bunch of ping pong balls with letters on them. i had to put together all the letters to figure out what it said. "bounce with me to homecoming" and then the person asking me's name was in a different color! it was fun and made me smile. im still searching for how to say yes.

so i figured out a cute way to say yes.
ya know how at carnivals theres that balloon popping game where you throw darts at the balloons to pop them? well i made one of those and wrote a poem telling him instructions. then he popped all the balloons and inside the balloons were little notes like try again and stuff like that. when he realized the answer wasnt in the balloons he looked at me and i handed him a balloon that said love jessica on it and he popped it and it said yes inside :)

i accually asked my boyfriend to my homecomming since he cant go, because he already graduated so while he was at work me and my best friend decorated his car in bows and streamers and ballons and glitter and window paint said "HOMECOMING?" on both of the sides then "LOVE MEGAN" on his back window. Then we waited for him to walk to his car and played his favorite kinda liike a love song really loud. Theres no way he could of said no hah
